Buying a HVX200 - What's the skinny?

The last time I checked, I saved about a grand. And I don't buy cameras without US warranties. Never have, never will. A US model is a US model, whether it comes from an "authorized dealer" or not. I don't buy into meaningless phrases like "factory fresh" or the doom-and-gloom grey market warnings we keep hearing and I'm a grand ahead with the same camera. Bully for me.

.

All I am representing is that you didn't get the bundled 16 GB card, which runs about $900.00.

So yes, you saved a $1000, but you could have purchased the US warrartied HVX200 with the card and the sold the card for roughly the price of the grey market one.

I HAVE a US warrantied HVX200. Two of them in fact. Again, I bought 2 USA model HVX200's which I registered the warranties for, and I paid something like 3600. for one and 3800. for the other.

If I bought a 900. dollar P2 card to make up for the one the dealer removed from the box, I'm still about a grand ahead, based on what most dealers are selling the camera for anyway.

Actually if you didn't get a card in the box, they you got a product that was destined for North America, so your warranty is in the neighborhood. This is good. The warranty card that is in the box has three potential address on it Canada, Puerto Rico and the US. Sending that card to the US does not get you a US warranty. Your serial number gets you a US warranty.

Best,

Jan
