Buying a DVX100B have some questions

Im a photographer that is very new to video format and have some (dumb) questions.

I am planning to buy a DVX-100B, and I live in Europe. Does it really make any difference if I buy it here or in the US? Does the Pal or NTSC really make any impact when I edit on my computer and then export in whatever format I want? I am planning of showing footage both in the US and in Europe.

I would prefer to buy it in the states as it is 2/3 the price.

I am also buying a 7D as a second unit as I allready have the lenses I need.
I am planning to be shooting 16:9 with 24p.
As both cameras seem to handle the same framerate and widescreen, will there be any issues going back and forth between the two other than the obioussness that the footage is shot with different cameras?

I assume the 100B dosent have a wireless reciver for mics? Do I connect a reciver to a mic port? Or might it be better to record seperatly if I need to use a wireless mic?

Last question:
Essentially Iris is the same thing as ISO right?

It will matter if 60i is being viewed on a PAL CRT television.

What are we, a big mall?

No.

Yes.

No. The iris controls the aperture.

DVX100B + 7D : Framerate the same yes, image size, sensor size and quality---HUGE difference
They both have 16:9 aspect ratio -- YES -- BUT 7D is HD 1080P24(1920x1080 24P)whilst the DVX100B is still only an SD signal (720x480). Side by side noticeable difference I would imagine.

PAL Vs. NTSC - I'm sure someone else can answer more concisely- so I'll skip that.

Mics- no wireless receiver- use the XLR input to hook up your mic set up. If you are doing a multicam shoot definitely use the audio from the DVX - that is for sure superior to the 7D.

Wait wait wait ...

No the dvx100b does NOT shoot 16x9 natively. It shoots 4x3. Standard Definition. Mixing that with 1080p 16x9 is a BIG difference.

You might want to do some more research. It seems like you are just getting into this stuff, and if you don't take your time you might end up with something you do not want.

First off - I love the DVX 100b. It is a wonderful little cam, but it is getting kind of dated. You might want to consider spending the extra money and buying an HD cam like the HMC-150. I can't sell anyone on the SD anymore, even at a substantial discount. Most people just think, ah HD is the latest and greatest, I want that. Even when they are just distributing to the web!

You might just want to stick with the 7D and invest in support equipment, like a separate audio recorder.

DVX is a great camcorder...no doubts about that.
However, buying an SD cam nowadays, especially a new one, is a big waste of money...
Take the hmc-150 (151 is PAL/NTSC btw) if u can get one...
Limited budget? Get the Hmc-40...its even cheaper than a new DVX.
Buy the T2i/550D instead 7D and throw the extra money to the camcorder...anyway they seem to shoot identical VIDEO.
Squeeze mode of the DVX makes some realy nice 16:9 25p footage (you dont wanna know how squeeze/interlaced looks like) but in any case there is no comparison with the native 16:9 hd footage of the hmc 150/40 which will be sooooo much easier to match with your dslr...(I believe it ll be your B-roll).

Dont get me wrong here...I still love my DVX and it is keep on bringing me money since 2007 when I bought it...but I wouldnt buy it now...

ISO=GAIN
