Buying 7D from Ebay?

Has anyone had experience buying their 7D off of Ebay? I've founded listings described as "New" for ~$200 less than I've seen elsewhere ( B+H ) at around ~$1,500. What's the catch? And is there a reason I shouldn't buy a "new" 7D off of Ebay?
 
peace of mind if nothing else.

id just go with trusted sources and be done. In this day and age i cant afford to risk throwing $ away :)
 
I agree with jambredz. Peace of mind, and you know you'll get it delivered when they say it will be delivered. I know a few that bought from Amazon too and it was fine. I always go to B&H for large purchases. Besides, the accessories need to be ordered too and I don't like buying peace meal because the shipping costs get too high.

id be a little scared, but to give you an idea i did buy my Nikon D50 on ebay.

Came with 2 lenses, a bag, some cards etc... all for like $525 shipped.

Then again this was from a seller, not a shady company, and it was when the model was already like 1.5 years old, and a really good price.

(id say equivalent would be like getting the 7D for like $1250 or something.)

I wouldnt risk it, to much, to many shady people, not enough actual users selling the thing.

I am going to wait till the 7D drops hopefully to $12-1300 or so.

Or another better camera comes out. It still irks me that it uses CF which is like 3x as expensive as SD cards of which i already have like 40gb worth

Anyone anticipate the drop in price of the 7D within the next few months? Are we all waiting for PMA for the Bombshells to drop?
 
dito with killjon...check the feedback ratings...and if its a company, then locate their regular home webpage, go to their contact page and perhaps determine years in business, etc... Nowdays, many mom and pop camera shops from all over the USA maintain ebay storefronts...and most of these have long positive histories. I always check if companies are registered with BBB and just for kicks, their DnB registration as well. The only time I've experienced an issue on ebay was a private seller who has less than 20 sells...sold me a tripod that had meshed gears...anyhoo..long story. Do your research...geez..sounds like I'm already teaching classes this semester...next week...next week.
