Buy FS100 Now or Wait for FS700?

This question is probably old, but would it be smart to buy the FS100 now and wait for the update/upgrade, or wait to see what the FS700 has to offer? I don't necessarily need a camera now, but it would be nice to get one asap. Thanks!

I'd wait; if nothing else once the FS700 comes out if it's out of your price range the FS100 might see a drop in price

Definitely wait. The supposed unveiling of the phantom camera will take place on April 2nd. - maybe.
Besides, if you're looking for a camera in the FS100 price range, the FS700 may not be for you anyway. It could be $2-4,000 more, perhaps even higher.

Wait for god sakes, it's only a few days for the Sony announcement. After that- two weeks tell NAB, then you'll have a better grasp of the road map for the year from all the players.

Old question? Didn't we just learn about this supposed camera in the last two days? This turn in technology is getting ridiculous.

I know my fs100 has barely been used. 3 shoots in total.
If the fs700 comes under 10k, I may be willing to sell my fs100 to you asap for 3K Canadian.

Don't buy an FS100.

God, I'd feel suicidal if I had bought one and then the FS700 was released. The FS100 is like an amoeba in comparison. I would feel too ashamed to ever use it again.
If I had an FS100 I'd feel like such an idiot (in fact the FS100 will be forever known as the Idiot's Sony in a couple of days).

Ahhh, the joys of technology lust.

Not sure about everyone else, but I'm having a great time making money and nice images with my FS100 and not worrying about what's coming next.

But, but.....there's a 5dMlll (and that's 1 more than a 5dM11.) and an fs700 (and that's a whopping 600 more...) and I hear there's actually an upgrade to
the pixel 2000 just around the corner.... What is wrong with you? ;-)

Yeah, it's a real piece of crap.

I really don't think the 700 is going to replace the 100. It's just an other tool. I see it as the ex1 & ex3.

Woa, there's a concept long lost by far too many. My Canon A1 has been making my house payment the last 6 months and my mortgage company could care less that is uses tape and records HDV, and neither has any of my clients.

Every man and his dog is including the FS100 in comparison tests with the Alexa, Epic, F65 & F3. When considering your two proposed alternate future realities my suspicion is that as long as you take the time to deal with the particular idiosyncracies of each camera (and every camera has its own), then you are going to get amazing results out of both. Not once have I looked at FS100 footage that was shot well and thought "oh this just isn't up to standard in terms of theatrical projection or broadcast". I have thought "wow that is really great", I have then at looked better cameras and thought "amazing this is even better", but I still go back to the FS100 and think "this is amazing - this is good enough and then some".
