how much damage would the camera have if i used it as a slave a deck and playback? wouldnt it not last that long since all the heads are being run through like that? or does that only affect if i record with it? beacuse i dont want to spend 50-200 on a cheap camera and have it die out of me using it as a slave desk and playback..

A cheap camera used as a slave for recording, capture and playback would last a pretty long time. After all, they are meant for consumers who run around in all kinds of conditions videoing birthday parties, vacations, Aunt Meg slipping on the ice, etc. They constantly review their stuff right after they shoot it, then go home and use the same camera to capture their footage onto a dvd. So, these cameras may be cheap in price but that doesn't mean they are delicate. They just don't have the image quality of the DVX.

As far as the $200 price tag, which do you think is better, $200 now for a cheap camera or $1000 dollars later for DVX head replacement?
