"Did you really see anything in the Marshall outside in the sun? Didn't you even have a hood?"

I wear my sunglasses at ... ... ... :) sorry couldn't resist

Some marshalls have transflective screens that are designed for outdoor use without a hood. That ,false color, and peaking , make life easy.

Yeah,

This job was kind of a learning experience. I have since bought a 7" Hoodman and have been using it. Although it never completely shades the monitor in full daylight anyway.

I could see enough to judge the framing, operating, and focus for most of the takes, even in full daylight. I like keeping the hood off sometimes so the director and I can both work from the monitor.

I've used this same rig on two similar sized commercials since and it has performed very well. I do need to look into gearing the focus and getting a low cost wireless follow focus going for jib/steadicam etc.

Here is a picture of the same rig with my new Hoodman.

And the same on a 10' jib. I had to operate from the head which is fine but it involved a little gymnastics to do floor to 8' in one take.

That spot looked crisp. Nice colors. Was that 30p or 60p? It also looked like a lot of fun to do. Good job.

Really great colors and image... that setup does look great. What was the budget? You didn't use a follow focus at all?

Funny you should say that, here is a Vitamin Water commercial I shot a month ago with The Situation form Jersey Shore and David Wright. I'm not allowed to post set photos but here is the final video.

All Canon 7D again with my rig and similar lenses.
