Built-In Error port

Similar to that of an automobile, the Red could feature a port to plug in a handheld error reader.

When the Red's ERROR MESSAGE light (somewhere, perhaps on the display) comes on, you plug it in, and it reads the error. From there, you look up the code the the handheld device gives you in the manual, and you find the problem and fix it, rather that digging up warranty papers and taking the trouble of shipping it to the manufacturer after fighting about its problem on the phone for a half-an-hour.

Just another idea.

That is a good idea. But why does it need a port? Wht not just have the LCD screen on the camera (I assume it will have one) read out the problem. For example, I have a Canon GL1 which displays the problem on its LCD, whenever there is a problem. I was in humid Borneo. I had the GL1 in an airconditioned room. I walked outside and tried to film. The lens fogged up. I let it warm up. I turned on the camera. The LCD screen flashed the message "condensation in camera." And the camera turned itself off. I agree with you that the camera should self diagnose problems and give you warnings on a display, that way you know what is going on and don't send it in for repairs unnecessarily. But you don't need a port for that. I hope Red camera is over engineered and doesn't break.

I also hope Red over engineers the zoom button. The zoom button is the most used button. The zoom button on my Canon GL1 broke and it has been in the shop for months. Canon has been slow to supply the repairman with the parts need to fix it.
