SHORT: BRUTAL ! 80's Vibe Horror Short (4min)

It's less than 5 minutes and yet manages to be super confusing. I have no idea, literally, what's going on, and what the viewer is supposed to understand from this. First of all, so the girl is running away from the gun guy? Or from the mask guy? No idea. If it's somehow supposed to be surprise, then it's not set up properly. Then, is the mask guy actually hunting the gun guy because he wants to protect the girl? That's the way it looks. Then the mask guy kills the gun guy (gun guy is the bad guy, right? Or no?). And then the girl kills the mask guy??? I thought the mask guy was protecting her? I guess not. I guess it was the mask guy who was the bad guy?? In that case was the gun guy the good guy? Or was the girl the bad one?
Holy Moses, it's confusing. And weird jump effects - the mask guy appears and if he was chasing the girl, then why did he not have any weapon in his hands? Then suddenly an ax pops up in his hand out of nowhere and he chases the gun guy - why did he not have the ax in his hand if he was chasing the girl?? And why is the gun guy running, since he has THE GUN - is it meant like the opposite joke from the famous Raiders of the Lost Ark scene where Harrison Ford just SHOOTS the sword twirling guy - like that scene was supposed to say "duh, a gun is better than a sword!" DUH! DUH! Only here it's the opposite, somehow we go "No, an ax is better than a gun, because urm, em, hmm I SAY SO!". Just weird and confusing. And then the guy doesn't wait for a good shot, squeezes out a couple at a big distance and drops the gun. Uh, OK. And why does the blood look so weird - is it meant to be sci-fi and the gun guy is some kind of alien?
The shooting/editing is very odd too - you have the running rhythm set up where you have a momentum of chase going on, and then you have those weird sudden stops, where it's like a pause button, when you have shots of a close up of a foot hitting the ground or something. It's so bizarre, like so static looking and shot in a way that looks like out of a completely different movie. Those inserts just plain stop all motion instead of adding to it, and look really bizarre. Also what's up with that music? Is it meant to be horror music? It's a weird vibe/mood. And what's up with that banana - is it meant as a humor element? Because it comes out of left field mood-wise compared to the rest of the short. Btw., where's the 80's vibe? The mask? That's more out of Saw or something, definitely not 80's. Production... how is it 10 days? Like 1-2 days of shooting and 8-9 editing? 1 shooting, 1 editing, 8 wrap party? It looks like at least 2 days of shooting, the light is so mis-matched, it must have taken special effort. I'd love to know.
I gotta give it props for mystery - it's one of the most puzzling shorts I've seen in a long time. My neighbor smokes pot and left the window open, watching this I thought might have been a second hand smoke effect. Excited to see more work like this! Congrats, and keep at it!
