OTHER: Brother

This video started as an attempt to create a self portrait. However, as I started to sort through my home videos, I decided to take the project in a different direction. This is probably the most personal piece I have ever made. The video itself contains a collage of Super 8 footage I shot, old VHS footage, found footage, and analog video graphics I created in a lab. Hope you Enjoy.

Also, special thanks to The Books for granting me permission to use to their song, "Enjoy Your Worries, You May Never Have Them Again." Check out some more of their music at thebooksmusic.com/

Any feedback is appreciated, as always. Thanks!

Very touching piece. Had some artistic elements to it for sure. The music fit perfectly and I thought the editing was really, really good and professional. I have a brother, so I can definitely relate. Very nice piece. "Enjoy Your Worries, You May Never Have Them Again." I like that. Makes alot of sense.

Thanks Marlon! I'm glad you found you were able to relate as a brother as well. That was one of my main goals with this piece. And yeah, the song title really does fit it well which is a total coincidence since I had chosen it solely for its sound.

IMO this kind of things are watchable for people who make them, i just see your random home videos here, nothing more. You see more in it cause its about you, but you need to realize that audience does not care, maybe if they would know you in person and they would be interested to see you as a kid.Strangers like me dont care about it and about someone elses home videos. Not all people but most. This is harsh but its the truth.
I dont like to watch home videos unless i know the person(even then im bored tho) or im in there and i want to see myself from long time ago.

I understand what you are saying, and that's why I was interested in posting it up for feedback. Like you said, a lot of people will not care and not not enjoy this piece. However, from what I've seen, some people can still find a way to relate to this based on their own similar relationships and experiences. So, with that said, I guess it just has a very specific audience.

I'll have to disagree with bwwd's statement, because even though this was personal, it still had a story that is universal and those are the things that people do care about. This was about family and showing a family with two sons/brothers growing up together. Everybody has their own opinion of course, but like I said, I thought it was touching, especially from that family aspect of it. It wasn't your typical story like a short film with a specific ending per say, but that's what real art is. People see different things in it. I saw the beauty of it and like I said before, I thought the editing was excellent.

If you're only seeing random home videos then you're not seeing the truth.
