broken DVX question.

add that to stuff NOT to do to your DVX. Coffee, we use DVC80s (same body as DVX) at work and we had this happen to one of our cameras. The part was $30, and we fixed it ourself in about 8 minutes.

But...since you have Panny looking into it, than hopefully you wont need to fix it yourself.

The two things we have learned to be quite carefull with here at work with this cam- handle the front lenshood assembly like a premature baby and two, only 1/4 turn past finger tight on the tripod mount.

Panosonik- please stop using "pot" metal (aka diecast aka matchbox) in the 1/4-20 mount.

My dvx mic inputs stopped working one day. I dont know what happened to it, seeing as I keep it in a hard case and never dropped it. I took it to MACK Camera store in NJ, because I had bought a 2 year warranty from them when I bought the camera in January 05. They told me it would be $500 to fix it even though I had bought the warranty because it was impact damage. They said they found a crack on the outside of the case for proof (I had searched the case thoroughly before bringing it to the place and found no crack). Sure enough, when I went to pick up the camera there was small but noticable crack near the mic input, no idea how it got there. Anyway to make a long story short, I didnt have the $500 to fix it at the time so Im stuck sitting here with a broken DVX. Anyone know a place that might fix it for cheaper or someone to contact panasonic at? I had it for less than 6 months before this happened. Coffee, how'd it go for you?

The solder joints came undone on my iris control only a year after I bought it. You would think soldering would be something perfected by now. Cost me about $270 to fix. Could of been worse I guess.

My baby fell off the tripod, and the focus wouldnt work. after i had a heart attack, i powere down, athen bak up, and now its as if nothign ever happened.

But for about a minute there i almost died.

lucky i was uing the work places's Mic, and the mic took the brunt of the fall. whew! see what i have to put up with to make Zombie films.....
