I want an HVX. But the low-light problem is tough. Is there any HD between $3500-$6000 which has better low-light performance?

The HV20 (a consumer HDV camera) actually has impressive low-light performance from what I've seen.

The HV20 has hideous low light performance. What it has is a lot of gain.

The HV20 is about 80 ISO, but it goes to I think 37dB of gain.

problem with warranty is it takes forever to send the camera in and get it serviced. Sometimes I can't wait 6 to 8 weeks. Sometimes I'd rather pay a few hundred bucks to get it fixed locally, even if it voids the warranty.

Then the only advantage to buying authorized is the rebate. Currently, there's no rebate offered.

So, for certain people, it comes down to paying several hundred dollars more to work with a pleasant salesman. No wonder they choose grey.
