gray market dealers

Stay away from all the Brooklyn, NY discount electronics stores. Most sell gray market, "international" electronics that are not under warranty in the US and are cheaper parts and QC then the authorized US versions. Furthermore, they upsell you on overpriced accessories and warranties.

However, I do trust and use B and H photo in Manhattan, NY

Except for Mikey's Hook Up. they are cool and repectable.... Now "Mickey's Hook up" id worry about......

Though B and H has been known to sell a GREY market or two in their time....

Whatever you do, DO NOT by from these people. I bought a product from them and ordered two day shipping and they didn't even ship it until 7 days after after I ordered it. Apparently it was out of stock but they don't tell you this while you're placing your order on the phone with them. They're all a**holes and just want your money, terrible customer service.

Instead of placing an order with Broadway Video, do this...

At least you'll have some fun disposing of your cash!

yes stay away from broadway. I bought a deck from them years ago and major problems dealing with them. If you do have problems like that be sure to dispute it with your credit card. I did and it worked in my favor.

I actually bought my HVX200 from them. As with the usual ads (hey we sell it for $2200) when you call them - they will tell you that the directions and text are in Japanese, and you have to pay an additiional 1500 or so to get it to be in English. Also, the cameras are considered "Grey Market" material, which means that you can't get rebates (P2) cards etc. from Panasonic, because they don't recognize grey market cameras.

Buuuuuuuuuuuut on another note, the hvx200 I bought was great. I had no problems with it at all. I have had it over a year. I have shot and edited 3 features on HD. I have shot shorts on DVCAM, DV, 720 and 1080i and it all looks great and the camera looks great. In the end, after hassiling with the sales men (don't be conned in buying Extras from Brooklyn stores - cables, batteries etc. - they all overprice the extras so you end up paying 5 to 6 grand) Buy the accesories at b&h. If you don't mind haggiling with these guys, you can score a HVX200 for 4 grand. I paid (severly overcharged on shipping) $4400.

B&H is much more reputable, but you can save a grand or so - if you are planning to rent P2 and Firestore. - like i did.

When I hear stories like that it makes me think I should take a chance, even though I tell all of my friends to stay away from the Grey Market. I'll be in the market for an HVX in the next month and I will also need a 16 Gig P2 card, Maybe I'll luck out and find a great used HVX Package here. My question is, if I do buy a used HVX from someone is the warranty transferable?

$4400 for grey market? For just a couple hundred more you could pick one up from a licensed panasonic retailer :/

Same thing I was thinking. Bought mine for 5K from a reputable dealer. Came with a free P2 card, two free batteries and the Warranty. All in all a 6K value for 5K. Can't see paying 4,400 for a Grey Market cam.

Possibly more important than not qualifying for a rebate is the fact that you won't qualify for warranty service either. It really is quite a gamble to deal with gray market cameras and these Crooklyn scammers in particular.

Abes of Maine not too bad.

Abes of Maine not too bad.

They have good prices. I have purchased two DVXs from them. They will try the old, but you really need this trick...But just tell them NO EXTRAS and you could do fine.

They have HVX now for 4800.00
