Brand New Muzzle Flashes.

Oh and by the way, I'm still waiting for your lesson on Ballistics sound dubbing, since you seem to know exactly what sounds good and what sounds bad.

As to the sound, the fact that you would even state what you did above speaks volumes on your knowledge about sound design amd implementation.

For god's sake, you are referring to something you posted on youtube and questioning why someone would have issue with the sound?? Are you serious?

As far as balistics (and sound design) go, I can teach you a thing of to if you like. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Holy christ is this guy for real????

If you had actually watched the ORIGINAL video and read my post you would know that ModelGuns **DO NOT** have Flashes, they have to be added digitally.

Would you like me to spell it out for you too?

I swear theres a troll on EVERY forum I post on.

Chances are, this guy is all talk and no action. Loves to give advice about stuff that he can't actually do himself.

BTW curtisbouvier, the muzzle flashes look pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Yes. That's exactly what I do. I live for it.
*rolls eyes*

Good rebuke. I've seen you over at CGTalk doing the exact same thing and you haven't contributed anything there either.

Your just some punk kid with an ego bigger than his skill.

i would say that curtis' muzzle flashes could be improved with the environment responding to the bright light of the flash, much like in mark's example. the flashes themselves look more realistic in curtis' video (are they actual footage, from detonation films perchance? i haven't read the whole thread.) but mark's effect is more convincing because of the light on the stuff around the flashes.

hey can you repost those videos somewhere...they have been "removed from youtube.com to to term use violations"...thanks! I really want to see them!

Then again, from the looks of these flashes, you just ripped them from FxHome's products and just did a tiny bit of color change in Photoshop.

Not getting into personalities here just some facts. I just saw some footage the other day from a film made by an armorer . I asked what he did the muzzle flashes with (I thought he had used FXHome's FX Lab) he looked at me kind of strange and explained that he didn't use anything, that's what it actually looks like firing real ammunition (blanks - but actual rounds not "model guns"). So with out having seen this guys video (YouTube pulled them) I would have to say if you thought they looked like FXLabs then he probably did a very realistic job.

Ego's aside, sound and gunshots are a strange thing. The sound in movies is very unrealistic and hyped in almost all cases so you have to define your terms. If you don't like them is it because they don't sound "hollywood" enough or because they don't sound "real" enough. Or because they just sound lame to you. Gunshots are sound and very few visual folks understand how sound works (not a jab, very few sound folks understand how visuals work either). So it would not surprise me at all if the sound sucked. I also would contend that the sound has nothing to do with what he posted about, except he got sort of defensive about it. He said he had great muzzle flashes not great sounding gun shots. I am probably the only one posting here that has actually gotten paid serious money to do gunshots on actually released feature films. So I probably have better gunshots than any of you. But I don't do muzzle flashes.
