I just got my 7D this Monday, been playing around and taking some pictures (around 50), the battery was around 75% yesterday noon, and sudenly yesterday night I tried to use the camera and got the message of an almost dead battery and the camera refused to turn on.

I removed the battery, then plugged it back again and battery was at 75% and everything was normal again. Any previous experience with this weir behavoir ?, does it means something wrong with the Camera, Battery or something else ?

I am concern that might be something wrong with the camera body ?, suggestions and comments please, thanks

weird...

just for reference, if i'm shooting photos i can go days and days on a charge. video or live view shooting obviously speeds things up.

Did you leave the Live View on and not realize it? There's a timer that turns it off, can be set to certain points: I leave my timer at two minutes, but it goes up to 30.

That'll definitely waste your battery.

spray some DeOxIt on the contacts in the camera and on the battery. You might have an oxidation problem in the connection

Nope, as a matter of fact after removing and re-installing the battery again, it was at 75% charge, meaning the battery did not get discharged

These cameras are not that old...There should not be any oxidation to require that.
I would not advise that.

There was a huge problem with D300's when they rolled off the lines, connection falures with batteries were rampant, mine included. Things happen, all I'm saying is a $5, 3 minute troubleshoot isnt going to hurt anyone

Drain the battery almost dead. Next plug it back into the wall and charge the battery to 100%. Test the battery and see if everything is normal, if not call your camera dealer, because I think you might have a battery.

Sometimes these batteries sit in the packages for months and need to be completely charged out of the box.

Hooked up to computer?

Did you happen to leave your camera hooked up to your computer for a while after uploading pictures? I left mine connected overnight once with a nearly full battery. In the morning it was dead.

What he said.

Summary, after testing multiple batteries, all of them full charged, I kept getting the same problem, so I went to Best Buy and exchange the Camera for a Brand New one, it's an older S/N, I hope the problem will be solved with this one, testing it right now.

Probably just my old school way of thinking, but I usually fully charge then fully discharge new batteries the first time round.

That's exactly what I did with 2 different batteries and I got the same result, 7D locked (does not turn on at all, even after moving the switch ON/OFF/ON, like an EMPTY or DEAD battery) until you actually remove the battery and install it again, and after that the battery will show 75% charge, and everything will work fine.
