C300: BPA 3rd party battery charger

I am waiting for the C300iii to arrive and in the meanwhile I am collecting accessories. So far I have 3 core Nano-C98 batteries on order but I could not find 3rd party charger. The Canon dual charger costs 500$ which is crazy expensive imho. Is there something else?

I havent seen any third party chargers. You'd think the battery companies who are making the BP replacements would have one?

I would have thought so. I have a double charger from Swit for NP-F, BP-U and Panasonic. They also manufacture a charger for BP9xx but not for the BPA. That's strange because it's also for the all-around C300ii

I have successfully used this charger to charge the canon brand batteries.

Specifically the BP-A30 and the BP-A60. I'm not sure if it would work with the SWIT brand but who knows.

You can just get a DTap to XLR if you want to power it with cine batteries. That's what I do.

I have no plans for adding a v-mount battery atm. I just want to charge 3 batteries simultaneously so that I don’t have to get up in the night to swap them.

thanks There's a similar from Patona. I'll give that a try. It's strange that didn't find it when I googled ¿?

It's a no brainer for $50. My canon charger stopped working and I didn't really feel like forking over hundreds of dollars for another one if this cheaper option worked.

The reason their charger (and ours) is expensive is BP-A60 batteries are 14.4V/very high capacity, in order to charge them reasonably fast the charger has to be very powerful. The budget charger (Kastar) will do the job, but it will take a very long time to fully charge a battery.

That's ok, I usually put them on the afternoon before a shoot. Still have the Canon but it would nice to have a backup and extra charger.

I have the Kastar. It's chintsy, cheap and feels like an aftermarket solution, but it works great (if slow) and hasn't failed me yet. (1.5+ years) I bought it specifically to not have to wake up halfway through the night to swap batteries and I am completely happy! I would absolutely prefer the Dolgin but this works.

great- Same situation there here. One of my most important accessories when I travel are two multi sockets with extension for multiple chargers of various cameras, V-Mount batteries, drone, remote devices, Ronin, battery Quasars, iPhone, iPad, MacBookPro. I have to make a photo when I'm able to work again.

Do you have an idea how long it takes with the Kastar to charge two BPA-60 simultaneously?

I did time it once, to make certain it was that much slower than the stock charger (not a speed demon itself). It is slower, but I can't find where I might have left any notes. Lemme get back to you.

I made a test with the Patona charger. https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B081Z6969S
It has an universal base and comes with two adapter plates for the BPA batteries.
I attached two Core nano C98 batteries to a 50W LED spot until it went off.
When I put the batteries into the charger it still displayed 30%. I don't know if the index
was wrong or if the battery level was too low just for the LEDs. Unfortunately I don't have the
camera yet to check if the battery would have still powered the camera.

I attached both batteries to the charger at 5pm and when I went to bed at midnight they were
not charged completely. Index was 80% and 90%. Those slow chargers could be critical when
you have short nights during productions :(

a side note to the core Nano-C98 batteries.

I tried to power the TecPro Liteflex via d-tap. I do this all the day with 95W v-mount batteries of all brands but with the core battery it cuts off as soon as I get to 30% lighting power. This is a bit weird as the light comes with a BP-U battery adapter and it works great with it. The light draws only 60W at 4A but the core cannot handle it.

My Kastar took about 13 hours to charge 2 BPA-60s--not at all useful on a tight turn-around. You have to find time to get 1 or 2 on charge during the day. But it gives you the flexibility to have 2-3 on charge at the same time.
