BOX on LCD Panel - Why ??

Hello everybody.

I just got my new Canon 7D, and so far, I love it. I got it exclusively for movie production. For a couple of days now I've been setting up the menu options the way I want it, and learning the camera, etc, etc.

I have run into a small problem, and I absolutely cannot find the solution in the manual. I have either accidentally set something in the menu, or something else has occurred, but I cannot get rid of it. When it is in the movie mode, there is a medium sized rectangular window box in the center of the LCD Panel. It drives me nuts and I want to get rid of it completely so I have a clear field.

Please let me know how to remove this box from the LCD Panel.

Thanks.

It is the area of the screen that you will see when you magnify the image for focus using the focus assist function.
It can be moved around using the joystick - but I'm not sure if there is a way to get rid of it completely.

It's just clever design.

You work better on a set environment when you're irritated... Just ask a PA.

On a serious note, just tell the operator to move the square down to the corner whenever you don't need focus assist.
