Bought a second GH2, which came with a large collection of lenses... now what?

Hello all! After filming with the DVX and the HMC for years, I bought a GH2 earlier this year. To test the water, so to speak. I'm enjoying it. So much, that when I saw this ad on a local tradeboard for another GH2 with extra's, I jumped right in.

The extra's that came with the GH2 are a shouldermount, mattebox, external monitor, extra batteries, flight case, and lenses.... so much lenses!

Like I said, I am new at photography and working with a HDSLR. I was just starting to learn my way around with a 50mm and a 70-210 minolta next to my 14-42 kitlens. Needless to say, I am really overwhelmed, and I'm here for your help. Or advice on what to do.

Here are the lenses that I have right now:

Minolta f1.7 50mm
Minolta f4 70-210mm
Lumix kitlens 14-42mm

Here are the ones that came with the purchase:

Lumix GH1 kitlens 14-45mm
Canon FD adapter
Canon 28mm f2.8
Canon 35mm f2.5
Canon 50mm f1.4
Canon 50mm f1.8
Canon 100mm f2.8
Makinon 135mm f2.8
Tokina 80-200mm f4.5

So here's what I'm considering: sell one GH2 and make some extra money by selling additional lenses. Then invest in a wide, low light lens. Maybe the Nokton, I don't know. That's for another day; right now, I'd like to put this online, because the rent is coming!

What should I sell? And what should I keep?

What would you do?

Tx! Chris

HOLY CRAP....
How much was the bundle?
That's ALOT of lenses They were all used?

Wow.

I would say keep both of your GH2s. Having a backup body is always an excellent idea, and you can work with 2 angles on your shoots. All of the lenses you nabbed are pretty great, especially that 50 f1.4. Are these all newer lenses, or vintage FD primes?

I dunno.... I bought a second gh2 body myself not too long ago. Terrific if you want each camera to have a different hack, and lens.

The notion that the Gh3 might make it's appearance soon kinda makes me anxious though.

Where did you hear about the gh3 coming soon? I have not seen anything about a gh3 anywhere?

depending on your use, id keep the second gh2 and sell the 14-42 and doubled up lenses like the fiftys and one of the zoom, whichever is better. may not get much but it will help with getting that fast wide

Tx for the replies. The deal went for 2250 euro's. The reason why I'd like to sell the second GH2 is strictly budget. So I'm thinking, yea, sell the doubles, sell some of the the long distance lenses (when would I use a 135 MM prime, for what situation?) for around 1k in total. I can make some good investments with that budget. All of the lenses are vintage primes.

The GH1 was announced Mar 2009, the GH2 Sep 2010. That would indicate a 18 month product release cycle, which if it holds true, means we should get a GH3 in Mar 2012. The big "if", would be the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and flooding in Thailand. While Panasonic doesn't seem to be as heavily affected as say Nikon and Sony, their suppliers might be.

Well I´d definitly be interested in your 70-210 Minolta as this range is not really covered by my small collection.

Edit: Scratch that, I misread the aperture f4, I fooled myself into seeing 2,8...

Why a 1.4 AND a 1.8 in 50mm?

Unless the 1.8 is an L series and the 1.4 not an L series, I'd suggest that the 1.8 might be a candidate to go away if you really need to do that...

The Canon L series lenses are marked with red stripes; those are the expensive, heavy ones. If you have any of those, you want to keep them.

I would guess as well to sell the Tokina since your Minolta is evidently faster and covers a wider range on both ends, but you might want to test first to make sure you don't end up liking the look of the Tokina better. Strange things happen sometimes.

If it was me I'd keep the 14-45 -an excellent walk around outdoor zoom that will cover moderately wide angle to moderately tele. I'd also keep the 50mm 1.4 for a portrait/low light lens and the 100mm 2.8 as a fast indoor concert/theater and action sports lens (the 135mm might be a preferable FL for that purpose but the Makinon lens I had was the worst lens ever so I'd very suspicious of it until well tested). Play with those three, determine your needs better, sell the rest, have a look at the new fast Panny 12-35 when it comes out and also consider the 20 or 25mm Panny primes for a standard fl low light lens. Good luck!
