Bought a rig but viewfinder does not fit

I bought a gini rig--everything is working very well except i also bought a seagull viewfinder and it does not fit since there isn't enough space on the plate and the rod
i've attached pictures---would i need to buy a quick release or such?

Yes, it should, as long as it has a thread underneath. The idea is to get the camera up. I used the one I linked to on my rig baseplate because the Panny 14-140 focus (or zoom, I can't remember) ring just sat on the base plate surface and I couldn't rotate it.
