Borrowed a 7D yesterday, did I forget to check the sharpness?

Hey guys, I used to own a 7D but had to sell it quite some time ago. I borrowed one from a friend yesterday to shoot some mountain biking and was in a bit of a hurry and think I forgot to change some settings.

Judging from the stills, does it look like I forgot to change the sharpness? I was using WIDE lenses (11-16 tokina). Why is there so much unresolved detail and aliasing in my shots?

Thanks.

This one is 24p.

And 60p (I know 60p has problems, but this is BAD).

Its a bit hard to tell. The aliasing isn't really apparent from these examples and while you might be able to see it on a still it wouldn't be a problem in a video. Can you give us the rest of the settings (f, shutter)? Manual or AF? Handheld? Filters? The exposure on your subjects is obviously way off, but that's just you (or you had it on auto). If there is a problem, its more likely the lens that the camera. If you had this lens focus on infinity, it's worth doing a focus check to see if the lens is off. Just btw, much as I love DSLRs, they are not my first choice for action footage.

Thanks Rainer,

The shoot was stressful to say the least. I had 5 hours of day light. Borrowing gear (especially without using the cam for almost a year) is tough. Anyway, I'm looking to make a purchase on a new camera for mountain bike shooting. Would the GH13/GH2 be a better option in forests for aliasing (pine needles, branches, spokes etc).

Thanks.

Others might like to chip in, but I don't think DSLRs are ideal for close-up action, where DOF and low-light performance might not matter so much. I was thinking something light and fast so you can capture the action - like a TM900 on a shoulder brace. And get some of the riders to wear a GoPro or Drift.

What are you guys looking at? I don't see any still examples? Am I missing something? Did the poster pull his stills for footage off?
