Boom Mic to work with T2i

I had no idea if this should go in the T2i section or audio... Anyways, I'm doing a big freelance shoot next month and need to know if anyone has had any good finds with a boom mic that sounded great. And should be able to plug directly into camera without doing anything separate. It'll be impossible to have separate audio on this shoot. I'm not looking for anything super pricey, I'd say $400 and under.

Rode NTG-2 (battery powered) with minijack to XLR adapter, or external and sync in post.

Make sure you don't just get a mini to XLR adapter, but you get one that is specifically made to convert a balanced XLR signal into an unbalanced mini signal. You want something like this:
