Bond 23 - Skyfall

Maybe the worst Bond title I've heard. Quantum of Solace was at least bizarre. Skyfall just kind of lays there like a turd. But we're getting Javier Bardem as a villain and Ralph Fiennes in some other role, with Roger Deakins behind the lens, so there's that. And editing it is Stuart Baird, who's no slouch. I'm not in love with Craig as much as many are. I think he's a decent Bond but he lacks color. I found him boring last time out.

I thought craig was terrible. If I pretend to have been around the whole time I'd say I like Connery and Lazenby. But I'm a young un. I liked Brosnan. I really thought that was the best bond. BMW's looked their best back then too.

I'd watch it though. I'd watch anything these days. Anything.

I feel all alone in my enjoyment of Quantum. I would have preferred a more competent approach to filming the action scenes, but I really liked the more realistic "bad guy" plot, and I really like Craig as Bond. And I'm a huge Bond aficionado (have read most of the books and, of course, prefer Connery).

I can't not think of the completely unrelated upcoming videogame Skyrim when I see this new Bond title. Really messes with me head.

As a Bond fan, I will of course see it in the theater. Besides Gary Huff, I think I may be the only person on the planet that actually enjoyed Quantum of Solace.

At least "Quantum of Solace" was a Fleming title, and if it weren't, while esoteric, it still sort of evokes Fleming (like current composers try to evoke John Barry).

"Skyfall" is pretty uninspired.

I liked Quantum of Solace's title. A lot. Just not the film. A lot.
It was only a slight improvement over that last Brosnan one (namely because it had no Halle Berry/tidal wave ice-surfing).

Hopefully this one will pick up where Casino Royale left off (...but, you know, figuratively this time.)

My son loves Quantum. Go figure.

I also enjoyed Casino Royale. Had witty dialogue parts between Bond and his love interest and made it all very believable and engaging. I didnt like Quantum very much except for a few action sequences.

In Swedish, the word "skyfall" means "heavy rain".

I dunno. As a title, Casino Royale isn't very good either. Sounds like a French McDonalds hamburger to me.

Regardless of the name, I just hope it has an engaging story, or at least engaging characters.

kina hated Brosnan for years after seeing him as bond. . . took me some times and films such as the matador to "like him" again... dunno ^^

Mendes does seem like a strange choice every time I think about it... it's a shame Danny Boyle hasn't been given a crack (yet)

I thought Brosnan was a better 'Bond' in The Thomas Crown Affair than any of the Bond films.

Same here. I think Skyrim will > Skyfall by a lot, if you get me.

I love Mendes and Deakins, and I like Craig (though he could stand to take on a little Harrison Ford charm* instead of all that grimacing), but Bond seems to have too many Spy Kids "Oh look, my watch is actually a secret cloaking device!" moments to stand up after watching a solid Jason Bourne movie. Speaking of which, I want to watch the Bourne movies again...
