I used the bogen 560B monopod today and have to say that it works so well.
the combination gives me steadyshots and faster run and gun cpibilities -

I left my steadyshot on because most of the time one hand on the monopod still has some vibration running thru it

Do you have a quick release on the monopod?
I am considering using a monopod and I want to be able to switch quickly to a tripod.

If you do have a quick release, which type?

there is a quick release on the monopod, it is a rectanglar quick release.
I was really hesitant to put the A1 on it because I use the bogen hexagon plate (3229)

but the rectanglar bogen plate was very sturdy. My ideal is to use this plate

but the monopod is very good, I high recomend it

the 560 is a brilliant design with a ball swivel and supportng feet at the base of the pod itself.. pans are super smooth and u can even mount a lanc control on the handle.. works a treat and its about 6ft high when fully extended, so you can adjust your zoom with lanc then manually focus as needed..
The mounting plate is the same one used for manfrotto stills heads, so i can use the same pod with a video or stills camera without having to remove anythign.. prefereably the monopod would have come with a slide on locking plate like the one on teh 503.501 head, but that would increase its weight and counterbalance the lower centre of gravity of the unit itself.. u CAN change the head though.. so its a very versatile unit.. bit expensive, but worth it if u dont want to lug a tripod around
