BMD 6K Pocket Cinema Camera

this 6k raw blackmagic 6k raw camera is really going to stir up the high end film market with 6k raw. 6k raw is better than what hollywood has been forced against their will to shoot on in the past, the just now outdated alexa mini and alexa xt at a mere 3.4k raw which can't do 6k raw. And the huge cost savings on hollywood productions of using cheap 6k raw blackmagic 6k raw cameras with their 6k raw better than arri 6k raw image quality will mean that 6k raw hollywood movies can now afford to spend more money on 6k raw cgi so the next 6k raw cats remake will look 6k raw great when shot on 6k raw blackmagic 6k raw with better cgi and 6k raw.
love....you...eric!!!!!

Genius!

...Video and Stills should continue to be seperate in the professional world. They have different requirements...
They are. But even the professional stills market is getting so much more bang for the buck now with a $10,000 Fuji GFX100 and its 100 MPX (Sony) sensor. And S1R and A7R MKIV will pretty much get you there also for a lot less.

As to Hollywood, weight and auto-focus will play an important part going forward. BMD doesn't have AF to speak of but Panasonic, Canon and Sony do or should in the future (depending upon models). There's obviously a human factor at play as well. Changes aren't generally welcomed.

Oh, no doubt! You can full stop there. The video world is so lost. Ergonomics and image quality and product tiering is so out of whack. Back in the day, the 5dmkii accidentally created a shift in the industry.

Totally agree. I think video professionals are as much to blame for the stunted growth. Most video people are praised for their can-do attitude and pragmatic outlook, that they actually don’t want change.

Even on this forum you’ll see that attitude.

Pocket6K may not replace Alexa or Amira but I surely would not pay premium rates for them.

Just in case no one reads the description on that vid its using something called optical radiance. From their website : "Using one-of-a-kind patent pending tools and unique processes Optical Radiance can retrofit any camera to "see" in the spectrum of three-strip Technicolor "

They're trying to sell their grading/LUT package. But there are quite a few gorgeous looking clips with Pocket6K out there. I just fancied this one.

Sorry, but what's so special about this footage? It looks mediocre imo, witt terrible chromatic aberration.

Wouldn't the chromatic aberration come from the lenses being far too wide (and likely far too inexpensive) for a given shot and have nothing to do with the camera itself?

And I linked to it because I found most of the shots pleasing to my eye. It's OK to disagree. There are other clips with a hideous "orange and teal" grade. At least, I found them hideous. The camera owner in question (and a large portion of Hollywood) does not. It's OK to disagree. Vive la différence.

Heh, yeah, it wasn't Leones ...in America, it was this new similarly named drama from LA neighborhood.

And I know that it can't be CGI free when Dykstra is involved, but it's limited to be just an icing to the cake, unlike other popular products from before mentioned neighborhood.
