This is an experimental night shoot by Norm Li with a Red Epic and Cooke Panchros.
.
But my primary reason for posting this is not the camera. It is how it was shot.
This video was shot available light at 48fps to 60fps frame rates. Maximum fstop with the Panchros is f2.8.
Correction: He did use a 3x12 Rosco light pad and a couple of LED flashlights for face lighting.
So what was the ISO speed range used? 400 to 800. Nothing higher. In the traditional sense, these are very high film/video speed ranges. Most of the current gen large sensor video cameras from the AF100 to the F3 and Alexa natively shoot very high quality low noise images in this speed range.
So why do people feel the need to push exposures to extreme ISO's with excess noise to capture similar images?
