Bluescreen music video

with all that gear i wouldnt call this "low budget" rather "well connected":) Damn if this is lowbudget i guess my productions would go under the name no budget at all. Well , i guess its the oil you have in norway:) Excellent work! 10/10!!!!

Thanks for the comments guys :)

Well, it was not much of a budget...used the money on a studio ( got a nice deal with the studio at the university ) makeup artist and some props. The gear was our own and all the actors did it almost for free...

The big cost in this production would have been the postproduction, 5 - 6 weeks in postprod.... But as I said the money ran out before we got to that part:)

Yesbox, that was outstanding and very professional! I don't believe I've seen anything quite like that on here before. The more I visit this site I notice the better people are getting at developing their talent/skill--keep it up!

Incidentally, what platform are you using for editing, Mac or PC? Laptop or desktop machines?

B.R.

Bluered: Incidentally, what platform are you using for editing, Mac or PC? Laptop or desktop machines?

We`re using desktop PC`s, windows XP.
Software: Basically Avid and After effects

Nice color grading, was any of it done in AE or all in camera

Did you use Cine D or Black press, the blacks look rich

We used cine-D and all the color grading was done in AE. I like shooting with
Cine - D cause it gives me more control over the images in postprod.

thanks for the answer,

Just to let you know, the SD version looks fine, but when i watched the downloadable HD version, there is some serious keying problems, you can see splotches of black (maybe over color correction), and spill of the blue screen dancing around the actors

Filmboy77: was the city backgrounds and other backgrounds created in 3d max as well or stock footage?

No, the backgrounds are not created in 3D. In Pre prod I went out in the city by night and photographed all kinds of buildings ( tall, old etc...) And put it all together in After effects. But the graffiti-wall is done by artists especially for the video, then photographed and put on to another housewall.

if you dont mind, what kind of camera did you use to take the photographs? was it a high end digital camera? how many megapixels?

What type of light setup did you use? Looks great. Did you follow the Barry Green method of lighting the hell out of everything with the Iris wide open? Really would like to know.

ifownlee41nite@mac.com:What type of light setup did you use?

No I did not follow Barry Green`s method. The bluescreen is evenly lit and not to bright to awoid spill at the actors. The actors was lit as close as possible to the background athmosphere I was going to use, so they easily could melt in:)

Thanks Killfilm for letting me know! As far as I can see this is not the HD version ( at the site you are referring to ), but a bad coded/converted version that doesnt look anything like the original HD. I will let the publisher of the site know!

I used the Canon 300 D to take the still photos, with I think is about 6.3 Mega Pixels.

Very Nice! Did you work in 8,16 or 32 bit space in After Effects. Do you use "Linear Blending". I've been having trouble with Keys lately. Any advice would be appreciated. Great work!

Was this done in a cyc room with a blue floor or was the it just a blue wall with a concrete floor?

How did you accomplish the camera rotation with dancer balancing on one hand and was the green room also from a photograph?

Great Job!

I can't find the right number of superlatives that this deserves right now. Sufice to say that I think I shall find a nice hole to bury my self into until I can wrap my head around it a bit more.

Well done, that easily looks like a 100K+ video.

Slice: Was this done in a cyc room with a blue floor or was the it just a blue wall with a concrete floor?

The shoot was done with blue floor and blue walls.

The shot when the dancer is balancing on one hand is a really easy one:) The camera was shooting from one position and the dancer only rotated ( jumped at one hand ) around in circle. The rest was done in afx, rotating the camera in the same speed he is turning.

The green room you are referring to is prob the downstairs/ basement loc. Yes this is also from still photos. The walls and floor are photographs just put together and painted/ made dirty in photoshop.
