Bluescreen music video

Wow... Either I'm blind, or the resized footage aids to it's sharpness
Footage looks like it's been taken with a 444 cam (might be going a little far here).

It's noise free and crystal clear,
Though I have idea what the words are...

Was Maya or which 3d app was used
in creating the world and the moon (moon looked terrific).
I liked your work. Will analyze some more and leave more comments.

PS. Was this all in camera color? If so which settings especially for the scene on the lower level.
Must have been a lot of light...

WOW!! Amazing video!!
What kind of settings this you use in the HVX?
The quality is sooo good was it a big budget music video?
How long did you have for post-prod?
Because you have a lot of nice movement in there!

Thanks for the comments!:)

Dantewaters: Was Maya or which 3d app was used? was this all in camera color?

We used 3ds max to make the 3D elements like the earth, moon and the explotion. Yes all in camera color.

The HVX was set on preset 5 or 6 thats it. All the shots were color corrected and finished in After effects.
No, it was a low budget video. We only had enough money for the shooting day and some pre.prod, all the postproduction is done without money.
Postproduction took aprox. 5 - 6 weeks.

Filmboy77: was the city backgrounds and other backgrounds created in 3d max as well or stock footage?

No, the backgrounds are not created in 3D. In Pre prod I went out in the city by night and photographed all kinds of buildings ( tall, old etc...) And put it all together in After effects. But the graffiti-wall is done by artists especially for the video, then photographed and put on to another housewall.

That's some hot ****. Reminds me of the zoom effects in "300". Certainly do wish I were handy with the compositing/effects tools myself.

Holly crap man, that looked great! I really liked your compositing and 3d work. Did your animator purchase models for the earth and moon or did he build them himself in 3ds max? Did you use Keylight to pull the key in AF?

wow! (blink..blink).... wow.

Hey dude, really nice and Pro!

Can you please tell us about the blue screen that was used? It's Illumination and keying out? It's a perfect 10.

Keep it up!

The models of the earth and moon were build in 3ds max, two spheres just adding earth, moon and cloud map - thats it. ( and a lot of adjustments )
Yes, used keylight from AFX, works great with a little tweaking and gives me the result I want!

yesbox, I'm stunned. Great job with this. I especially loved the cuts to the vignettes downstairs. The cool and warm lighting for the greenscreen matched the BGs and really created another universe. The camera motion against the greenscreen was pretty masterful too. Was it a pain to match the motion of the backgrounds?

That was some serious sh*t!
Perfectly executed, nothing missing...
Please tell me you do compositing and 3D for a living and just happened to help out some friends with their lowbudget vid...?

And how big was your bluescreen and was it a studio or DIYed for the shoot?
How was the screen itself lit?
Did you try to overlight it and do contrast in post or did you light for an in-camera look?

Knoxworth: Was it a pain to match the motion of the backgrounds?

All the camera motion is done in after effects.

Spartacus: And how big was your bluescreen and was it a studio or DIYed for the shoot?

We used a bluescreen studio for the bluescreen shooting, pretty good size and with good lighting. So it was easy to get the actors away from the bluescreen and to avoid spill lighting. ( we also did use greenscreen for some pickup shooting )

Spartacus: Did you try to overlight it and do contrast in post or did you light for an in-camera look?

I lit the screen as even as possible and not to bright, cause then you easily get spill light from the screen. The lighting at the actors was set as close as possible to the background atmosphere, that we had planed.
