Bloom training DVD - worth it?

The last thread on this topic got closed so here is my two cents.

The DVD (or digital download) is informative but way over priced and not that good. Granted if u need a basic primer this might be the way to go but i was sadly disappointed.

I know Barry was defending bloom, but let me make a comparison. Back in the day i bought Noah's HVX boot camp... Compared to this standard the bloom DVD is 1/3 the running time and double the price. Not to mention that Noah's approah to training is actually pretty good teacher. While Blooms approach is scattered and really centered on all the equipment you need for the camera instead of the camera itself.

I also found the sales pitch to be mildlt deceptive. The running time of the training was not included, and at least somw claims are not delivered on... Specifically the rolling shutter chapter is about a minute long and can be boiled down to 'this type camera has problems with rolling shutter'. Yet the sales copy claims it would teach me how to avoid and fix rolling shutter.

This DVD is for people who are new to video ONLY. Thats my opinion.

In era of internet and free information floating everywhere i doubt that its worth it,ive seen chapter titles so i kinda know what might be inside.
Just do some research on google based on titles of the chapters if you want to gain some knowledge.
Price is high,100+ million $ feature films on DVD are cheaper than this.
Maybe if we wouldnt had internet it would be worth the price.
Am i get beaten for this?Thats how i see it.

i was tempted to buy it until i saw the price. no way i'm paying that much for it, especially a digital download. then again, i don't have money to just burn these days. if your patient and good with the internet, you can find a ton of info on the web like bwwd mentioned. if you've got money to burn, go for it. but in my opinion, technically, its not worth the price. that's asking a lot.

Hopefully this isn't a real argument?

I don't plan on buying it, but I also research the hell out of any camera/new technology before buying into it. For those that are either new to video or aren't an obsessive researchers, this'll probably get the job done.

Chances are, avid DVXUsers aren't the target market for the DVD.

Sure if you can afford a $1,750+ camera not including good optics or accessories you owe it to yourself to spend another $120 or so to learn how to use it. If you don't want to spend that kinda dough for training, read the manual, sift through the web, etc. You get what you pay for...

I was defending him against someone who hadn't seen it and was bashing it just based on the price tag.

If you've actually watched the content and are making an actual review, instead of a pointless assault, then by all means, feel free to do so.
