Blackmagic Decklink & 7D ? ?

Has anyone hooked up the HDMI output (I know it's only SD) to a Blackmagic Decklink Pro card successfully? I've been trying for hours to get an image up using FCP 7 Log and Capture and every drop-down box available for input source without success. I've got the Pref Pane set for HDMI input and SDI output to a Leader waveform/vector but it's just a black screen so far.

Would love to hear about any success stories if there are any. I'll call BMagic tech support on Monday for a possible answer if nothing gives here.

I'm setting up the 7D to shoot a SAW pattern on a paper chart so I can begin to design some picture styles with a waveform pattern to really see where the curve is going - much like using the CVP editor on a Sony F900R.

The Intensity works on the PC with XP64, and there is"HD" output from the 7D's HDMI port. It's not full 1920X1080 tho.

Here is what it looks like:

Same question re: Intensity and FCP. Hooked up the intensity via HDMI cable to my Dell HD monitor and it will only playback still frames.

Thanks for the samples. I'm looking to use what I already have (BM Decklink HD PCIe card) with the 7D HDMI output for reference/gamma curve viewing only - not for final output so reduced resolution on HDMI is not a real problem. I am hoping this can be done without the need to buy an entirely new solution like a BM Intensity.

I'm going to check in with BlackMagic Tech Support later today or tomorrow to get a formal answer to doing this.

What about recording straight out of the camera into an Intensity Pro card? I am in a studio environment and am looking to get around the 12 minute recording limit...

Any ideas?

The links that I posted were from a 7D and an Intensity card on an XP-64 box.

You are going to have to crop and upres every shot to get the full 1920X1080 so you will gain color space, but lose some resolution. It's a trade off.

I've had really good experience with the HV-20 and HDMI out, but it's a slow ISO which means more light, and you would need a lens adapter for shallow DOF if that is what you are after. The HVX-200 with HDMI out might work well too, I've never tried it, but you still might need a lens adapter though.
