Other: BlackMagic Cinema camera!!!! 2.5k for 3k...

Dam this is moving too fast, I Second Paul with this and also being a Bolex D16 backer that is the camera I wanted and not the BMD Camera as much as I ALSO think it looks great considering what we're had to put up with so far.

It would be wise if SOME of you calmed down a bit and stopped bashing another camera that as of yet is also not available just like the BMD.

These are exciting time for both cameras and yes I also think the software bundle is a lovely bonus but i'm not gutted, or wish I could have my money back etc etc just have different needs for the ergonomics (remember the post I created recently) and my vintage glass love.

Last word, can people please stop referring to the BMD Camera as 'Super 16' as the D16 Bolex is the camera that has a sensor size and was pitched as a 'Digital Super 16 camera' being compatible with Super 16 glass, the BMD camera is not as lovely as it is.

The Digital Bolex is still vaporware. I know that the Digital Bolex project hit the scene with incredible buzz and a dedicated group of believers, ready to use this new concept camera to start a filmakers revolution, but they are just a baby step behind BlackMagic right now.

The BlackMagic Cinema camera prototypes are on full display, backed by a reputable company, bundled with great software goodies, are priced right, have an actual public release schedule and have created more buzz on dvxuser.com than I have ever seen in the six years I've been surfing this site.

That's how it stands today, but I guess we will see what happens, when both camera's are readily available and we've got some real user feedback from around the world on performance, service and real world application.

The good thing is, that these two cameras have sent a message to Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Canon, and RED, that RAW for less than $5,000 is a reality in 2012. Every single BMC and Digital Bolex sold, is money out of their pockets. All of those manufacturers, coulda', woulda', shoulda' locked down this market at least two years ago, but here we are. Behind closed doors, I guarantee you, that these manufacturers are all shocked by the BMC bombshell.

2012 is a gonna' be a year to remember.

they are not bolex they pay license to use BOLEX name ...
but dont waste time that BMD camera gives beautiful skintones!

And what caught my eye the most was the window in the back not being blown-out!

Im not trying to be a Debbie Downer - simply a realist. This from John.

Our talent, Leah, was lit by a single 1.2K HMI through a frame of 216 on camera right. I had a 4×4 Poly doing a passive bounce from camera left and a bit of anti- fill between me and the poly.

Id say that had a great deal to do with why the window wasnt blown out. It did seem to roll off the highlights quite nicely however.

Ordered cam yesterday. Even more exited today. Will have to wait for more information to filter out. Hoping they will power EF lenses so IS works. IMO, don't see much downside. Will use 2 hacked GH2's for 2nd/3rd cams. Very excited about the Dynamic Range and hope it's all they say.

Am assuming Black Magic will give us PC users the tools we need for the HFS file structures as well as the waveform monitor program (whatever it's called) on the PC. Also hoping that they will include a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable for our SmallHD monitors and other non SDI monitors.

Haven't seen specs for the SD drives but assume coming soon and can start watching for some sales.

July can't come fast enough.

We really need a few RAW CinemaDNG frames to take a look at. Also, I think we all need to reserve judgement until this camera is in the wild (and is independently tested). I have been hearing conflicting reports from some of my colleagues on the show floor who have actually touched the cameras BMD has on display. Guarded optimism from me at this point when it comes to this camera.
