I like the power input specs. with an adapter cable you could run it for days on cheap 18v lithium drill batteries. Some of the professional chargers will top up the batteries in 15 minutes.
I just hope they offer interchangable mounts, and not hard molded like the mock-up. As cheap as the price point is, and I'd like to have 2, I'd prefer to not have to adapt everything to ef.
LOL Now it is you with your 1st stone?90 minutes integrated battery life...![]()
Wonder if Jannard has thought about picking these guys up... if you can't beat em...
The pertinent question in my mind is . . . what do you plan to do with this camera? Seems like you should have a definite plan for that before getting excited about any camera.
REDUser was full of semi-bashing of this cam already![]()

Um, actually not. I was there. Many of them were actually pretty excited about it. Too bad the thread got closed.
I like where they're going with this concept. REALLY LIKE it...
BUT as far as I can tell, no 3D options, not 4K or beyond, capped at 30fps, not S35 sensor size, least important not so hot for timelapses.
not "revolutionary" here except 2 HUGE pluses:
small price and form factor, with decent workflow.
I'll keep my eyes open for Generation 2 with hopefully 4K,
it seems then it would be a decent crash or B Cam for a Red / Sony / Arri / Canon
Seems like a great pricepoint for indie movie production TODAY, and glad they
LISTEN to the Indie community for a low cost RAW 1080p solution.
I hope GoPro responds with a nice 3D 4K complement to this...
We are truly spoiled at this NAB with awesome options, this is a great cam
and nothing like it for the price and size...
I wouldn't be surprised if the problem was that they didn't have access to the micro4/3 electrical specs/protocol to control the aperture on the lens. I know Birger tried to get it, and couldn't.
Man these glass companies are stupid.
1: everyone has been whining like sick puppies here for the past two years about the disadvantages of 43 sensor size in terms of DOF. This sensor is smaller.
2: 1/4" audio in? This is not, nor will it ever be, a "professional" audio interface.
3: tack-on $1K for a zacuto z-finder or similar (but I don't see an hdmi port in the specs). Maybe someone will come up with a chimney style magnifier and the existing screen has a fine enough pitch to do double duty.
4: No one has really seen the material of this camera head-to-head with anything else. The claimed 13 stops is mouth-watering at this price point (it helps that most of the footage I have seen posted was shot in overcast conditions). Everyone should know by now that there is a whole raft of issues that need to be considered, stuff like aliasing, skew, color clipping etc. and it remains to be seen what is really under-the-hood so to say.
