Other: BlackMagic Cinema camera!!!! 2.5k for 3k...

LOL Now it is you with your 1st stone? ;) US $2,995... There will be workarounds : )

EDIT -- Search ASUS EP121, had the same problem but workarounds happen :-)

I have workarounds, was just hoping they'd have it swappable internally. Even if it was their own brand of battery at a higher premium, that's a lot easier then being forced to surround it with gear all the time.

Ah well...we'll get it figured out :)

I was thinking more revolutionary for the price to feature set ratio. For 3k, a super 16 raw movie camera that shoots 2.5k is unbelievable and came out of nowhere. For all those other features you asked for to deserve the revolutionary tag, that's Epic kind of camera that I firmly believe Bmd can deliver for less than half the price of an actual Epic in one year. Why not? This came out of nowhere with no rumors or anything.

Absolutely agree on price-performance ratio, revolutionary in that regard. Future looks good...

I'll probably wait for a larger sensor camera. For a Raw 2k camera yes this is absolutely awesome. But for me, to shoot just for an HD finished product that I don't wanna spend alot of time C.C. I'd rather have the more filmic DOF look from a full frame. Perhaps BlackMagic will develop a larger sensor camera in the future. From looking at the footage available for this camera so far..it just doesn't look as filmic as something like the Nikon D800. IMHO

I agree. But people don't care about that, people like specs, not images..! But having said that, so far I'm also pretty excited about this camera, but I have to see more footage, because the one available is just appalling, my granny could have done a better job...

They should perhaps offer some 60fps version even in windowed size of the sensor or a little line skipping or just in prores version. It might not be ideal compared to the RAW 12 bit, but at least it will be better than nothing and much better than the actual solution in many actual camera or dslr.

edit. Or even just a burst mode for some second.

John Brawley has posted PLENTY of footage already. If the footage doesn't work for you, cool, but apparently it's done plenty for a lot of people.

The price did. Not the images.

The specs are wonderful, and I'm sure it can produce wonderful images, but the ones posted are not a good example of that.

I was thinking the same thing - slow-motion in a ProRes wrapper. Perhaps it will come from a firmware update? With a sensor this size, writing more frames per-second should theoretically be easier...assuming the image processor inside is fast enough...

Are you seriously telling me what made me interested in this camera?

So the price of the DBolex made me interested in it? Even though I cancelled well before it even ended?

Seriously...

I'm on the fence until I see footage of someone's cat, indoors, shot handheld from their desk chair. Then - and only then - will we really see what this camera can do.

Your posts are most welcomed around here, Michael. lol I don't have a cat but I'll post footage of my G-raids asap.

One interesting thing I read in the blog post I think, is that the white balance point is baked in. I see that as a minus.

I always white balance for video, but When I shoot raw stills, sometimes the white balance is the only thing I adjust. It is a nice way to give an image a totally different feel.

Unless I am misunderstanding?

You don't need white balance with raw file you do what you want when edit with adobe and can make a choice which balance you want that's means raw

It's going to be a great camera for those of us who realise that the "film look" is not just about ultra shallow DOF and the preprocessed DSLR look. This camera looks closer to Scarlet than a 5D2

10 minutes after reading this, I'm still laughing. Bravo!
