Other: BlackMagic Cinema camera!!!! 2.5k for 3k...

How can they make everything perfect and screw up the sensor size???
The combination of an EF mount and the tiny sensor doesn't make any sense.

Would've been nice to have something larger, but as people as said in previous pages you can get a Tokina 11-16mm for wide angle and i'm hoping some of the M4/3 lenses like the Olympus 12mm and Voigtlander 25mm can be mounted on this.

This debate has been beaten to death.
Here are a view links to GH2/AF100 Videos, decide for yourself, if the "small" sensor is big enough for your line of work or not:

Yes the BMDCC will have an even smaller sensor size, but I think we can guestimate from there...

Footage looks so organic! These camera manufacturers never show music video people love on the framerates tho :-( Maybe next year.

Also as someone said above...don't think that if this doesn't become successful they won't make a bigger sensor for those who want it. BMD has taken a big step here into a new arena they've never been in before. That's super-ballsy, especially with what they're offering.

I think we all know who the BLACK DIAMOND award is going to this year!

A BLACK DIAMOND for BLACKMAGIC.
My vote is in.

Dare I say it but I hope this shows that the technology is here for a camera like this and at this price point,

And I hope the Bolex D16 Arrives in August, I ordered a D16 and agree with everyone that the BlackMagic camera here is ace but I prefer the form factor of the D16 and I'm praying that it will actually arrive and hope this will make them stick to schedule....praying

Really glad someone else is jumping into the game, more competition will be a great thing.

I dislike the sensor size (since I invested a good amount of cash into S35 lenses) and the audio inputs....but I'm still intrigued and may put my money down on this instead of the FS700.

Watching here on my new ipad, damn thats some DR!! Not as resolute but its not mkii soft heheh :)

I'm hyper certain that the missing detail comes from the compression of 7 minute long files. If they were available for download, you'd see the resolution that's missing.

When Brawley's saying detail, as someone who shoots Alexa and C300 (and is experienced, good shooter, knows what he's doing), then there's going to be real detail in the image. Not post sharpening junk.

My only issue with this is not knowing what higher frame rates will be available and why I can't buy it right this second.

Fantastic; I was wondering when we'd get to see this side of the trade-off.

Lately we've gotten larger sensors and higher resolution, but relatively poor codecs.

Now we get a (16mm+) decent sensor size, very decent resolution (Alexa is only 2.8K), and fantastic codec choices. Wonderful. I am very interested.

If they had gone with a M4/3 mount, we could have used the fantastic SLR Magic and Olympus 12mm but nope, they had to go with the stupid Nikon and Canon mount which automatically gives us a 2.4X crop on every lens we use.

The crop is the same no matter what mount lens you use. Focal length is a focal length is a focal length. The size of the imaging sensor ultimately determines how wide your field of view is at any give focal length.

This is what I have been waiting for :)
Except I wish has variable frame rates so you can do time lapse stuff and higher fps. Too bad the max fps is only 30 but for $2995 you can't really ask for much :)
