Black Swan - Aranofsky's next!

Looks amazing.

Then again....so did the trailer for The Fountain.

Nevertheless I'm a fan of Aronofsky, Portman, & Cassel so I'll check it out.

i think i'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed The Fountain.

As for Black Swan, looks like it's going to be good. i wasn't sure about a film about ballet dancers, but after watching the trailer, i think it might not be a film about ballet dancers.

rumor spoiler I just made up: in the film, natalie and mila are the same person!!!

I loved the fountain! Story was a bit plot holy, but great nonetheless.

What is going on with Natalie Portman's back?

Not sure if you actually know or not, but I got that she's turning into a swan, a black one apparently, like her dream. Symbolism and that whole shabang...

I can't remember a year I've been so excited about so many wonderful films coming out. I've been following the festival circuit this year and boy there's a lot of stuff headed our way. There's gonna be some tough competition at the next OSCARS.

This one in particular I've been looking forward to. I just saw the trailer for the first time and it's not what I originally expected it to look like, it has a more of a horror feel to it than Drama, but hey it's just a trailer. I'm really looking forward to this, with a combination like Aranofsky and Portman, can't be too bad.

I did enjoy The Fountain, but when I first saw the trailer I thought it was gonna be better. Let's hope this one knocks it out the park, I love a good DRAMA done Aranofsky style.

It's hard for me to see me liking anything better than I did Inception, but the year is still young, bring on the great stories....

D.A. is one my favorite directors and I'm checking this one out for sure. I just read on Collider that he is being considered for the next Superman film. Now that would be interesting.

Just got back from this one. I LOVED it. The final minutes of Aronofskys third acts are haunting and Portman gives a great performance, she did an amazing job with the ballet; she's a tiny girl but she was really skinny in this one, granted not like Bale in the Machinist but skinny still.

I really enjoyed Black Swan, not as much as Requiem but this one was really good.

I'm anxious to see what you guys thought.

Hmm... what were the Canon shots?

^ Interesting. The entire time I was watching I was saying that the film looked a bit grainy (noise?)

Personally I like the grain from film.

These crisp super sharp shots seem to be all the rage nowadays.

Almost all subway scenes were shot on the 7D I think. There is another thread floating around here at dvxuser which is more specific.

I was lucky enough to see this in October at Austin Film Festival. Highly recommended. Creepy as hell.

Still undecided yet. I usually know whether I like or don't like a movie first viewing, but this one left me baffled. If I had a gun to my head and I needed to give an answer right away, I would say I didn't like it.

Requires another viewing for me. One thing I'm sure about is that Score, it was amazing.

Just got the screener today.

Somehow all I can think right now is that it was kind of like The Machinist but with ballerinas.

All I see in my mind's eye after that description is an emaciated Christian Bale pirouetting in a tutu whilst growling in his scary Batman voice.

Saw this earlier, I thought it was fantastic and a really great movie. It had me from the first frame and Portman's performance was a pretty full immersion into that world. I haven't liked a lot of her work but she killed this.

This is one of the best dark comedies in recent years. I liked it. It was kind of a trashy body horror movie disguised as an art film.

Just saw this at BAM with my lady. She liked it more than I did. It was definitely great, and further cements Aronosfky's place as one of the most creative filmmakers working. But something just didn't quite sit right with me. I think it was too long. I have a hard time sitting through anything longer than 90 min anymore. Not sure. Thought portman was really good, and Hershey was...well, even though she didn't have as much of a role, I thought she was up there with Burstyn in performance.

Very nice little part for Winona Ryder in there too...
