Black Magic PocketHD and 4K production camera

Unbelievable! This indeed changes the whole market.

The only question is WHEN? Any info out on that?

With that form factor, it will not change the whole market. It will effect the lower end but at the higher end it will have very little impact outside of being a cheap crash cam.

No matter where you sit regarding different camera models.....(and I have to be honest I hate the form factor of the Black Magic Cameras...Different strokes for different folks)......it is great for the industry.

From my point of view it will make Canon and Sony sit up and take notice on pricing once these are available and they start flying off shelves.

Notice how they don't look particularly happy about their new product? Guess they saw the BMC tweet!

That doesn't make any sense. The 4/3" sensor is much smaller than a Super35, by 7mm, or 120mm^2. It will have an EF mount. I don't see how they could do both.

The Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera will have an active MFT though.

I think they got their descriptions mixed up.

This is also my thinking, The mft listing must refer to to pocket camera

... ease up the fiasco of the BMC 1. The problem was not black magic production but the sensor. As the CEO said that having a whole warehouse of parts and production staying idle was not a pretty sight. More so about the investment and lack of revenue. I am sure BM went in search of other sensor manufacturer to try to find a replacement or alternative. In the process they got someone that had the production and quality control to make the BM factory working.

If this is true, it goes a long way towards answering my nagging question of why they would even consider putting such a capable cinema camera into such a hobbled box

Anyone know if the S16 pocket Cam is CCD or CMOS ?

Poor Ikonoskop. . .

No kidding about Ikonoskop!
Let's see...raw video with an S16 sensor for $1,000 or $11,000? I'll go with Black Magic for $1,000, Alex.

And I'm betting CMOS, but I don't know.

BTW... I think everyone proclaiming the demise of Canon, Sony, RED, Ikon, D-Bolex etc etc should maybe wait for specs, image quality tests and, most importantly, whether that have sorted distribution out.
