C300: Black hole sun issue with C300m2??

OK, details then....lens, fstop, ISO, what NDs, which white balance, time of day, etc.....I'm not questioning your capabilities, but there is too many statements/claims being put out on blogs by various people with no backup or details. If there is a real problem, then show it and I promise you Canon will see it and do something about it (they read all the blogs).

I'm too lazy, that's why I never even brought it up. I'm sure someone will post full details soon.

This is definitely not something on the order of magnitude of the BM problem from a few years ago. If you look at the russian guy's other shots, none of them are showing a problem when the headlights flash the sensor, and I went out and did a shot "stupid style" (overexpose...and then point at the sun) and there's nothing there. So yeah...maybe you can make the camera go dark...but it's not something that you're just gonna see without trying really hard. https://vimeo.com/160116991

Much Ado about nothing.......some guy in Russia shooting things incorrectly.....having a really bright object in a mostly dark shot is not a way to shoot things. The C300 MK II does not have a black sun issue (like BM's cameras had) period......so, don't waist your time on this...moving on.

He's just testing lol. And a tester is from Poland, not Russia my friend. I think camera in this price range should do everything good, even he overespose by 5 stops.

This was shot 4K, LOG 2, ISO 100

Why are you shooting at ISO 100? I wonder if that could worsen the problem. At ISO 100 you are loosing 3 STOPS of over exposure protection (Section 10 of the White Papers).

I wonder if at that ISO the pixel's are being super over saturated and causing this error, or at least worsening it.

Regardless of whether or not that is partially to blame, I'm rarely ever shooting this camera CLOG2 beneath 800ISO outdoors and would not suggest it.

Side Note: That is a great move Aaron, is it gimbal or some sort of cable cam?

I'm shooting at ISO 100 because when you externally record in log 2 you have 11.2 stops of clean underexposure to push up. The LOG 2 curve is so flat that I can expose for my highlights and then bring up all the information in post much cleaner than if I try to expose at 800ISO. I've done side by side comparisons of exposing images at ISO's 100 & 800 and 100 is always the best.

Anything 3.3 stops over middle gray should render as pure white/over-exposed. Canon should be able to fix this.

And thanks, the move was done with a Glidecam HD4000 & vest
