black balance

The instructions were not very clear about this.

How do I set the black balance? I know I have to hold the button, but am I supposed to point the camera at something black?

Exactly what does black balance do?

The blackbalance calibrates the internal blacklevel of the camera, It will close the Iris automatically so you dont have to point the camera at something black. But you shouldn't point it at very bright sources either (like the sun). It is an internal calibration so the target really isn't important.

Many pro cameras do automatic subtracktion of stuck pixelels as well when you blackbalance. Then stuck white pixels will be mapped out automatically afterwards.
