Birger Mount

Any news on availability? I've emailed them several time but get no response. Whats the hold up?

I don't think they have the finances to put it into production. As Barry said, the Redrock is available and works ..
even though it doesn't have focus .. which is not that big of a deal (IMHO).

I'm just using the Kipon for now, but RR want to charge me $150 to ship their adapter downunder. Puts me off unless B&H stock it?

I appreciate your self-confidence a lot.

Awesome.

Ah, the AF-100 Birger mount. Ya know, over the years I have seen this forum be a pretty harsh and unforgiving society at times. That being the said, I am kinda surprised Erik has gotten off so easily. That guy is truly a joke.

Regards,

G.

a wise strategy would have been, release something like the live lens a year ago, then let the R&D for the one with controls & IS a year later. atleast a lot of people wouldve bought that rather than wait for nothing

They go to all the conventions and show off the mount. Tweet about it and disappear. It just hasn’t made it to market. Something is clearly wrong. I know it frustrates people to wait for a year for a specific product then to not have it still come out, so as Birger fiddles with it others have made it work.
I wanted the version that gave me only iris control without having battery and wires hanging of it. Birger seems to want tho make a very complicated focus puller as well. I’m sure that added to the R&D.
So instead of waiting I sold a Canon 17-40 and I bought a Duclos 11-16, RED 17-50 and a Zeiss 85mm CP.2. Done. For know.

You're absolutely right. What a lot of people don't seem to realize is, Birger's sin was not simply in shipping a product late. We can all deal with that just fine (and yes, we all know, no one should make plans on an as-yet-not-shipped product yada yada yada...).

What they did so wrong was to trumpet their product so loudly, show it off so much, take it to trade shows, hold siminars, and - above all - make SO MANY specific statements about current status, availability and timing - and then break these over, and over, and over again... to a truly ridiculous degree.

Exactly. Don't build a house unless you have the money to build it. Simple.
