Bill O'Reilly goes nuts!

We have ALL - without exception - had moments where for 60 seconds at some point in our lives, if cameras had been on, and were the footage to be shown on youtube, people would come to the same conclusion: Wow, that speaks volumes about this person. He must be SUCH an a-hole.

Speak for yourself. The difference is that he chose to do this in front of coworkers and staff. I have NEVER acted like such a baby at work. I'm sure that I'm not alone on this either.

People keep acting like this happened in his house and it was secretly videotaped.

Please.

Mike

People who already love him make excuses for his behavior.
Bingo. Being a Canadian and barely knowing the guy one way or the other.... he came off like an ass in this clip. Yes, I know of him but never watch his show. BTW, what someone will do in front of staff at work is usually marginal compared to what they will do in private. I pity this guys family.

Come on

Who here has done this to a coworker ? Your wife maybe ? A sibling ? A best friend ? A dickhead who had it coming ?

But some camera guy ?

Bill is a betch.
Agreed. And it's the people that are defending such public actions that are making this a big deal. If this was a clip of some unknown guy going on a rant at work... I bet we would ALL be in agreement.

Mike

What's that old adage about not marrying a man until you see how he treats the waitress? If he treats his professional contemporaries like this, then believe me, he treats those closest to him much worse. Think Joan Crawford, but uglier and with bigger hangars.

The "everyone gets angry" and "have pity on the celebrities" arguments are baseless and encourage bad behavior. The fact is that people in power have even more reason to treat their contemporaries with respect. Business is business, but conducting one's self as a venomous, Machiavellian douchebag does nothing for anyone.

Check your sociopathic behaviors at the door please and stop making excuses for bad actors.

I rank Bill O'Reilly as the worst interviewer ever to exist. This opinion was formed the second I first watched his show several years ago. I had no idea who the guy was and had no opinion of him at first. But the first show I saw of his goes down as the worst interview ever.

He had a paleontologist on that had found a full skull of a T-Rex a few weeks prior. Apparently Bill and his crew thought this was the oldest T-Rex ever discovered (it wasn't) so that was the first question. This is was how the interview went:

Bill: Hello Professor, so you have uncovered the oldest fossil of a T-Rex

Professor: Uh, no. This is not the oldest. It is one of the oldest though.

Bill (looking a bit shocked): Really, is this the largest?

Professor: No sir its not the largest though it is in very good shape. It is quite impressive.

Bill sits there staring at the camera for a few seconds. You could tell his entire interview was based around this being one of the greatest discoveries ever, but despite it being an impressive discovery, it wasn't what Bill had in mind.

After a few awkward moments of silence, Bill unleashes the greatest question ever asked to a well respected professor in the field of paleontology.

Bill: So professor, dinosaurs are older than humans right?

I burst out laughing. Worst interviewer ever.

I remember watching him on Letterman a couple of times. It was the only guest that I have ever seen Dave become so confrontational and agitated with.

It wasn't necessarily because of his political views, but because the way he chose to commununicate them. When his arguments aren't sophisticated or convincing he disguises them with an intimidating, loud, and bullying energy.

He also uses the tactic of putting words in peoples mouth and then arguing against the nonsensical argument that he created. Not to mention insulting guests with namecalling. He is known for calling people pinheads on the air(including kids in high school to their faces).

This guy is not a class act and has lost the benefit of the doubt, imo.

I think the worst thing to happen to tv journalism is the rise of the pundit. Just give me the news please, as I can think for myself and make my own opinions. People who listen to the O'Reilly's and the Glenn Beck's and the Air America's of the world just want to hear their own narrow opinions validated in a media echo chamber.

Allow me to spin what Batutta said... He hates God, puppies and his particular country of residence / origin.

J/K!!!

That, no matter where you fall as far as "the aisle" (which is a false impediment to our true unity) goes, is the problem with the world we live in today. We are spoon-fed what we are supposed to believe. At some point, people caught on that the media represented the best outlet to sell position as fact. And so they do - with shameless and angry enthusiasm.

Now, I'm not being political here.

What was stated about Mr. O'Reilly increasing his volume, especially when he has no arguable position based in fact, is dead-on. I try to avoid conversations over organized religion and politics for just this reason. The studies on the chemical compounds released during conversation you agree with versus ones you don't is telling. If you are in the same camp, you are having your position stroked. If not, most people become agitated and fight or flight their way out of it.

I'll just say that the average person can spin things themselves based on their own belief system without punditry coming at them from all sides.

the o'reilly clip is pretty funny. but i must say that i can relate because i have those types of outbursts every day. except usually they're directed at family and friends.

It is an unfortunate situation. Since CNN changed the news climate in the 1980s, the media has been severely compromised in many areas - specifically, coverage of celebrities as news and in politics.

I listen to a lot of NPR and even that is tainted. That's okay though, because they share my platform.

The only time I have those kind of outbursts is behind the wheel of a car. I'm about as easygoing a person as they come, but behind the wheel I become a rage-a-holic. Of course, I do drive in Los Angeles, which would make Mr. Rogers homicidal.

And people who don't watch him and really don't have an opinion about him or his show one way or the other (like me) might be inclined to give him, and others, the benefit of the doubt once in awhile.

You don't have to love the guy to be willing to cut him some slack.

I used to dig him

Then, I realized when it came to subjects like child abuse, crime, etc he was as even as one may expect ..

But his political views are skeewwwedddddddddd (Faux NEWS)

(Prepares for lockdown by fellow mods)

Behavior "...typically seen in dictators (Pinochet et al)... hatred and fear of all women." "This is mine, I'm superior, mine... mine, mine!" Awesome. "About to mate... looking for a woman to dominate".

Gotta love the competition's spin on this.
