Bikers Korner...........

yeah it's totalled, ribs fractured ankle bone fractured, but came out really well considering. glad to be alive now got to get another bike, damn i'll miss my dyna wide glide!

Yeeouch.

I was hoping 'dropped' just meant some scratches, sorry to hear it was that bad. But glad to hear that you weren't hurt worse.

Was there another vehicle involved?

I was looking into getting a used bike and learning how to ride... and then I started reading this thread. Yes I freely and loudly admit I'm a pu**y when it comes to lacerations, contusions and fractures. I've spent way too much time in ERs and ICUs taking care of the after math. I think I'll stick to rolling in cages for now. Best of luck guys and stay safe. Your balls are bigger than mine but my skin is a whole lot prettier than yours ;p
(Damnit I did all that work wearing my wife down for something I'm probably not gonna do now. Should've used all that energy trying to talk her into something useful like some Zeiss primes or a 3-way.)

And Matt: JEBUS F-ING CRISPS SLOW THE F DOWN!!! You're gonna kill somebody someday. I had issues when I was a teen and did a lot of street racing and totaled 3 cars before I was 19 and managed to walk away from them all relatively intact but now I cringe at the thought of what could have happned. Not to me but what I could have done to others. If I'm doing dumbshi* and die... oh-f-ing-well, but I couldn't stand the thought of hurting someone else. Ok I'll get of my soap box and leave you men alone now. Ride safe friends.

Rakesh,
I got my first motorcycle license in 1968. I've been down, more than once, but I've never hurt myself. No broken bones, no road rash, no concussions. Ever. I'm not going to argue that I've maybe been lucky, but if you drive like everybody else is out to kill you - because they are - your chances go up quite a bit. Then if you wear some protective gear - in addition to your helmet - like good gloves, jacket and pants with armored pads, good boots with ankle protection, and maybe a backpad, you'll be fine.

That is not a guarantee that you will not ever get hurt, but your chances of walking away from the accident is improved by an order of magnitude.

If you ride in flip-flops, shorts, a t-shirt and some Oakleys, remember that asphalt is the worlds fastest tattoo-remover.

Yep. Considering the conditions under which the crash happened, proof of the importance of not riding faster than one's guardian angel can fly...*

*seeing as Tom's mount was an 1125R, his guardian angel musta been on a YZF-R1, or something...

hey Max, no i was 40 mi south of Reno Walkers pass 395 up in the mountain doing 80 with 3 other brothers. hit a curve too fast hit some gravel, slid then corrected it then off the road i went hit more gravel and slid the bike on it's side then let go of it. it high sided and tumbled two to three times, i slid about another 40 ft hit my ribs on a loose rock about a ft in diameter, that tumbled me hittting both shoulders then slamming my r ankle bone on another rock. then on my back.

well here we are, i'm in pain but regardless i still went to Reno in a truck with the Marine who helped out tremendously, my luck the Marines were training first respondant team to Afghanistan so i was in good hands. but no need for cpr or first aid.

the bike doesn't look too bad but the insurance co. totalled it. if you see the ambulance the curve starts before it about 30 yards, well that's where it all started then ending up where my bike and i are.

we past those guys and i rode with him later to Reno and he said you guys were flying past us and he said when he saw the wreck he got out his first aid stuff and was scared to see me dead. when he came to me he told me not to move as i was checking for anything turned the wrong way. i told him i think i broke my ribs and right ankle. i sat there for a while then when the ambulance came i hobbled over to it. oh the cell phones didn't work but the Marines had their walky talkies radioed in on the Sheriffs for help. talk about good fortune.
