Bikers Korner...........

Kimko,
I spent the better part of today on my 04 GSXR 750. What a glorious day and what a way to spend my b-day.

Disclaimer before I get slammed for being all manner of bad person things.....

Wheelie shots were in a business park on a Sunday on a dead end street. Knee down photos were in a church parking lot during the week.
Always wear gear. If it's close enough you don't need gear, it's close enough to walk.

Owww, yeah baaaby! that's what i'm talkin about! man i do miss cornering like that! NICE WHEELIE! Oh man everytime i watch super bikes i get this craving to get me another Rocket....but i must first pay off this here bike!:2vrolijk_08:

damn i miss my Suzuki GS 1000 1980 had it for 8 years, but the model you have is beautiful!!!!!!!!! i like how it seats lower, it just looks more balanced.

I actually like the 04 more than the next model (05 or 06) Mine, to me, appears more solid, and it's anorexic compared to my friends 02.
Anyway, I am just about as happy as you can get with it. Maybe I'd like to have had a 1k, but I was just getting back on after a loooong time off the bike.
Heading for the track in the near future.

awesome!!!! you gonna race huh? geeez this past weekend their were 1000s of rockets out near the beach and Mulholland dr.

thousands of rockets and probably like three helmets, likely attached to the bikes and not the riders?
I hope to get to race this year. I've been on the track, as a passenger on an instructor's bike, dvx in hand and filming. If I can find the clip, I'll put it on my site. If I remember, it's not my best editing, but the song is my brother and it's fun.

Hey Will I got a bike! And it's heaps tougher than Kimko's, I got a 90 model CRB with 250ccs of pure power, lol. I pick it up today if the road worthy gets done, pretty excited. I had a lesson the other day so I now have all of 1 hours of bike experience for my 26 years of life.

In a few months I'll pick up a R1 between 2002 to 2005 model. My roommates still waiting on his gixxer turbo btw.

A 90 model CRB? Were they only available in Australia? I've seen CBRs but never a CRB.
So already planning the move to the R1? Take it easy there trigger. My buddy rode my 750 today. He owns a 600rr. He said he felt like he was hanging on for dear life. I told him it was a good thing he never actually put it in gear. JK.
Let me sing to you the virtues of the '04 GSXR 750. Getting on the freeway I can get the front end up just rolling on the throttle. Nail a shift into second gear and the front end is airborne all over again. Mind you, first gear will take the bike north of the legal speed limit in all but Germany. Snap the throttle open in first at a light and you'll get to find out how good your insurance coverage is. Now the really interesting thing is how dead even and solid the handling is on my bike. I rode my friends 600 rr and it is all divin' into turns like a mad dog on a leash and then when you're at speed and try to turn it fights like crazy. (we are looking into a fork rake issue, some adjustments may be forth coming.) My bike, it's like it knows where you want to be and then lets you think you took it there.
Now in all fairness, I've only been on a 1k once and it wasn't long enough to get a feel for it. However, and I say this only because I'm wanting you to have many long years of many long rides. You'll find the 250 to be phenomenally dull after a few weeks. It won't keep up with your pals and you won't want to take it on the highway. But don't then jump right onto a racebike. You can take any street bike from the last 5 years directly to the track and do some very respectable laps. There is power and geometry on your side in all of them. The 05 R1 is a race bike in street clothing. You also should keep in mind, the 90 CBR is likely carburettored (sp) and all the new stuff is fuel injected.
But hey, you're an adult and I wish you the best. I enjoy riding as much as anyone. If you do buy the R1, please promise me one thing. Okay , 2 things.
1. Always wear helmet, pants (not shorts or jeans), jacket, gloves, boots.
2. Take your time getting used to the bike. This goes for any new bike. Learn the power progression and where you need to sit on the bike. Learn the brakes too.
3. (I know I said 2 but this is really important) Ride like everyone else is gonna get free gas for life if they can take you out.

Leathers on the bike are cool, this is never cool. Don't be a dork.
Rossi wears gear, let's all be like Rossi. The Doctor
BTW the pic of Rossi shows him on a 500cc bike.

My bad, yeah cBr. I was looking at a 2005 r6 the other day, beautiful. I'm not set on the R1 but I'll be fine to test ride when I'm ready to upgrade. Got a good midrange helmet yesterday and getting gloves today, will be using my mate's bike jacket until I get the bike I'm after. Nice vid Mike!

A couple of Kawi's here- Vulcan 1600 cruiser and a ZZR1200. I actually quit my day job 2 years ago to get in more riding. Sadly after close to twenty five thousand miles of long trips I'll be looking for work again soon.
Amazing how fast you go through money staying in different hotels for two or three weeks at a time......

no these guys were ridin!!! i had never seen so many bikes on the road like that!! all crotch rockets! 1000s

Kimko. I was really fortunate to get to ride pillion on a really good instructor's bike. Aside from getting really tired trying to hold the camera steady in triple digit wind. (150mph on the final straight) It was an awesome experience, and I can't wait to get back out there.
