Better Resale Value

What do you guys think will be worth more as a percentage of purchase price when the 5Diii comes out? 7D or 60D? I am trying to decide what to get when I sell my T2i. I am also considering just getting a 5Dii, but the resale on that will really tank when the mark 3 is released. I suppose what I really want is the 5Dii.

I would never buy any camera based on its resale value. But I'd suggest a 5D M2 will hold a bit more than the other cameras because it's full frame. That said, the used market will be flooded with these cameras soon so don't bet the farm expecting a return. Get the camera to use for yourself.

Thanks! I didn't mean to say that it was the only factor I was considering. It is such a tough descision that I am really having a hard time. Selling the t2i is going to be a bit of a loss, but I am not worried about it because I have enjoyed using it. I want to get a 60D at a minimum for now because of the command dial and top LCD. By the time I spend the $400 to upgrade to that, I am really close to a 7D (but would need to switch to compact flash). It would be a bigger jump to go to 5Dii, but I could use my primes much better. I am going full frame eventually for sure, just want the least number of jumps in between.

If you want to go full frame wait till the mark III is out then get a mkII at a lower used price.

I also wouldn't wait for another camera to come out to make my purchase more valuable. You have no control over when that happens and in the meantime you're losing money over work you can't do without a camera.

Cameras are not good "investments"- at all. Buy stock or land if you're looking for resale value. Unless you're buying a camera in the six figures or more range, the resale value is really not a factor. As in there are millions of T2is being sold, so 'resale' is whatever you can get. Get the camera you need and can afford for your work know and assume you'll sell it at a loss. The 'gain' is the work you can accomplish yourself with the camera- that's the 'resale' value in my opinion.

Just a side note, I'd get the cheapest camera I can and buy lenses if I'm thinking about resale value or overall value for that matter. Good glass holds it's value and sometimes even increases in it...

Ok, here is a tough choice. I found a used 7D for $1300 or I can get a new 60D for $1200 (including tax). I don't really want to order online and wait (B&H and Newegg don't have 60Ds yet).

Thoughts?
