F5: Best workflow for quick work with the F5

sure rating your camera lower and adjusting base level exposure is going to technically provide better signal-to-noise levels, but who's to say what might or might not happen in the grade afterwards that can change "noise" anyway? This is why its not so clear cut as to say just "expose and grade properly". It's quite subjective in the end.

You are right about web delivery however, I find that the pixel peeping noise I see in the post process does not usually make it once compressed by YouTube. So again you have to upload the project and test it.

Ok so late reply but the video was not released until now. I wanted to thank everybody for the help. I ended up burning in the LC709A LUT in CINE EI mode at ISO 800 to get rid of the noise. Almost the whole video is shot in crop mode except the last wide shot. The highlight rolloff and the grade was not perfect when you shot like this but it was indeed very quick to work with and very clean.

Looks like a great concept. Fantastic!

I can definitely see the white point clipping. Was the clipping incurred in-camera via exposure, or in post via grade?

Almost only clipping via grade, because of how the curve turned out it was very hard to get a nice looking contrast without clipping the smoke. The problem was the sand getting very flat and strange looking.

EDIT. Oh, and thank you btw :)
