Best way to use my XLR microphone?

Well I want to use my ECM-NV-1 I got with my HVR-A1U on my 7D. What is the best way to do this? Or should I just get another mic?

You need an XLR box like the Juicedlink or Beachtek. If your mic needs phantom, make sure that you get a box that provides phantom power.

another option is to get a separate recorder such as the Zoom H4N and sync the audio and video in post processing.

FCP on the mac uses Plural Eyes to sync audio and video.

Does anyone know if the PC platform has anything similar?

hmm pretty expensive options. maybe ill use my a1u as a dedicated audio recorder, though that sounds retarded
