GH13 Best way to record separate audio with Tascam DR 05?

Hey guys,

I use a GH1 for my video work & recently i have just bought a Tascam DR 05 for recording audio separately, which i then sync in post.

Now, i'm not sure if this is the same for other recorders, but on the DR 05 when you start a recording you have the option to either stop the recording all together or to pause the recording. My question is, what is easier to work with when syncing the audio in post? (i sync all audio manually)

Should i create a separate audio file for every take i do? Or just pause the recording in between each take?

Any advice on this is much appreciated, i'm new to this. :S

If you're syncing manually (but really, get PluralEyes), then the main question is do you want to work off a single audio file for all of your shots or a separate track for each shot?

I use a Sony PCM-D50 and it has a "divide" function which keeps the recording going, but saves the current file and opens another.
That has worked out pretty well for me in terms of keeping track of which piece of audio belongs to which video clip.

You want a different file for each take. Unless you can get that with "Pause" then you need to stop. Use a slate, don't trust that stuff like Plural eyes will work (which we never ever use, we always sync manually). It MIGHT work for most takes, but be prepared to manual sync if needed.
