Best way to go ProRes in FCP?

Hello there guys

I have some 20hours of material shot on the Canon 5D Mark II to import into Final Cut. It has to be edited with XDcam footage in 1080p25 so i am looking to transfer the 30p from the 5D to ProRes in 25p.
Grading will be in Color, Delivery propably in ProRes and DigiBeta.

So far what seems to work best is to open footage in the browser and export i from there through BatchExport. This way picture is changed to 25p and sound to 48KHz.

I also tried MPEG streamclip but the footage comes out as 30p dispite picking the 25p option before renderout from MPeg Streamclip.

The same happens with going through Compressor. The footage comes out as 30p. In compressor i could not find the option to adjust to 25p. It just has passthrough of framerate. Do i need to do a custom setting to get ProRes in 25p?

I found a post mentioning ProRes LT and ProRes Proxy but have not found these options ( may this be due to the fact that i am working on FCstudio2 ?

Thanks a lot in advance!!!!

M Rosenfeld.

ProRes LT and ProRes Proxy are part of FCP 7.0 or FC Studio 3.0. Otherwise looking for exactly the same workaround for mixing EX with 5D footage as you.

Yeah, studio 2 does not have the new ProRes formats (ProRes Proxy, ProRes LT, and ProRes 4444)

I don' know... did you try conforming it to 25p in cinema tools, then just exporting with ProRes HQ and tell it "current" for the frame rate? That... might work. I don't know, I have never worked with PAL frame rates before, thank god.

Your luck is in, check out the custom 5DtoFCP custom workflow

On that site it doesn't mention if the workflow fixes compressors issue with 5d/7d gamma. Does anyone know if it corrects for that? So far the only solutions I have found that don't affect gamma are fcp media manager and neoscene. Neoscene is wayyyy faster with computers with more than 2 cores.
