Since you are all doing best films of the decade, I thought why not make a thread for everyone's best TV series of the decade?
Here are my Top 10.
1) Band of Brothers
2) Battlestar Galactica
3) Mad Men
4) Farscape
5) Firefly
6) Breaking Bad
7) The Dead Zone
8) The Shield
9) It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
10) Californication
Honorable mentions:
Weeds -- a scathingly funny and satirical rant on suburban culture, but also had a lot of heart to it as well. Looking forward to the next season.
Kings -- had so so much potential as well as Ian McShane playing one of the primary characters, but it was cancelled before it could really take off.
The Tudors -- haven't seen enough of this one to pass any type of judgement on it yet.
Curb Your Enthusiasum -- funny as hell and better than any sitcom out there.
Stargate SG-1/Atlantis/Universe -- I find these to be entertaining, but not nearly on the same level of the decade's groundbreaking sci-fi TV that was BSG, Farscape, or Firefly.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles -- another excellent series (like Firefly and Kings) that was cut down in it's prime.
Star Trek: Enterprise -- call me crazy but I actually really enjoyed this incarnation of Star Trek, which lasted a solid four seasons.
True Blood -- I've only seen season 1 so far, but what I've seen is pretty darn good, fun and little campy at times, but also done with pretty well drawn characters. The show also knows when to be serious and creepy and when to lighten things up a bit.
Monk -- just a great concept and character that is portrayed expertly by Tony Shaloub.
Psych -- another fun concept that goes well after an episode of Monk.
The 4400 -- started out much better than it ended (unresolved), but still a lot of fun and I got pretty invested in the characters, so not a loss at all.
Burn Notice -- a fun show that gets a bit too repetitive. But it's got Bruce Campbell too. Bruce Campbell is awesome.
Deadwood -- I loved the intricately drawn and foul-mouthed characters as well as the great attention to old west period detail, but also found it hard to follow sometimes.
Caprica -- the upcoming BSG spin-off. The only thing released so far has been the pilot, so there isn't enough to judge it on yet. If it maintains the quality of the pilot though, this one could be great.
The War / The National Parks -- two great documentary series by the man who created the infamous Ken Burns Effect.
