Best thunderbolt adapter and best USB 3 adapter?

Would you have to remove the handle that is screwed on to the Odyssey SSD to fit in the Blackmagic Multidock? From the pic it seems like the SSD sticks out a bit once it is inserted so hopefully it clears.

Yes - they do fit with the CD handles still attached. I don't have the multi dock but I tried it in their rack mount hyper deck which I'm sure use the same mounts and it fitted fine.

I think the multi dock will be the way to go for me. In the meantime I'm using a cheap USB3 dock but it's not very fast.

My understanding is that one should never edit from CD SSDs directly. One should copy the footage to a server or a machine that acts as a server and then work on them. So this BMD multi dock advertised advantage of editing direct does not apply. Therefore, not sure this is a very suitable product?

The Blackmagic MultiDock is a great product, especially if you are shooting high speed or 4K RAW so need to download a lot of material often from multiple drives. You are 100% correct that you should not directly edit from our SSDs. Get your files off and then work with them. Every computer will want to add directories and other such root utilities onto the drives that it actively works with. This is part of the reason it is important to reformat the drives on the Odyssey as opposed to the computer.

The Odyssey SSDs fit just fine into the Blackmagic MultiDock. I know a number of DITs who use the MultiDock on their carts, and they also own Odyssey7Qs. A happy pairing.
