T2i Best T2i Audio Option?

Hello everyone, first few posts on this site, even though i just joined months back.
I have a question, to record better audio on the T2i, what would be better, an onboard mic, or the zoom H2? I would primarily be out filming skateboarding and shorter creative videos.

I find the price of the Zoom H2 perfect (about $130) on my 16 year old odd-jobs-throughout-the-city wages, but I dont know if thats what I want, cause while filming skating, it can be hectic and forgetful to start and stop the Camera and recorder after and at the start of every trick attempt. I will also be filming live concerts, primarily with a friends band who is very loud, and the zoom sounds amazing for that. So what would anyone recommend?

the zoom would be better suited for filming concerts or live music, but if you're mostly filming skateboarding i would just get a shotgun mic, the Rode Video mic is a nice choice, although you will have to do some soldering if you want to eliminate the T2i's AGC. If you're on an even tighter budget, the Azden ECZ-990(54.99 on bhphoto) will be more than sufficient for skateboarding, and i believe is compatible with the simpler version of the AGC hack

Thank you for the info, ill definately have to pick up the Azden, hack with the ipod, and save money and get the H2 when im going to film concerts. Of course, after the LCDVF and such.

I've found the hissing that occurs when the Rode Videomic is attached to the T2i can be easily removed in post. All you need is to download Audacity, which is free. Import the audio into the program, and select a sample of the audio that includes the hiss, and put a filter on the audio track. I'll post a link of a video I watch on YouTube last night w/ someone who did this as soon as I get back home.

I just ordered the zoom h1 and i plan on using it in combination with an older beachtec xlr to stereo mini adapter. The plan being use the zoom h1 to record the audio and then using the line out with a splitter to go to headphones for monitoring, and a line going into the camera to record a track with AGC to sync to later. hopefully this works out. I will post more on the device when it ships to me (end of july).
