I was wondering if anyone could lend their expertise and provide me with some advice as to what is the best stabilizer for the Canon 7D? Thank you everyone in advance for your help.

A tripod lol, Actually i just tested my tripod as a shoulder rig (cuz im poor) Just tilt the head all the way back and put it on your shoulder!

I just bought the wonland ARES on ebay. should get it in a week or so. I will let you know how it is. So far the reviews show it's built well and works pretty good. it's similar to the merlin.

I use the merlin with the Gh1 and I love it.

I don't think the merlin will support the 7D with its weight. It's quite a bit heavier than the GH1. Check out the indisystem stuff and the Jag35 shoulder rig. It's a fantastic deal at just 299. And both of those companies also sell cheap follow focuses for under 150.

we use merlin with our 7D and usually a tokina 11-16 attached. merlin+7D i don't think there's a better combo. here's one of our videos, all stabilization is with the merlin...

what are your settings? i've been trying to get my 7d+tokina balanced properly for weeks. it keeps tipping after just a few seconds.

we use the merlin cookbook, here's the link and it's the 9th one from the top

... im not the actual guy flying the merlin, but its without the strap and stock battery (canon)... its ridiculous how very little things can make a big difference...

do you use the lens hood? any place where i can find an explanation of what all the stuff on there is? i've seen it before, but i bought my merlin used, without a manual, and i have no idea what stage mark, z, g-platz, etc could possibly mean.

right now mine is mounted in the "O" mounting hole. i've got one small weight, 2 big weights, and then one end weight on the bottom, and one big weight and end weight in the middle. i've also got the arc set right in the middle. other than that, i'm just constantly tweaking the sled adjustments, because it doesn't seem to stay

yes with lens hood. 3 Mid and 1 Finish weight on bottom, and 1 Mid and 1 Finish in the middle. align the plate to -2. Can't explain anything in detail for I don't fly it, but usually after balancing our guy always adjusts it (minimum). for example, sometimes when it's put down after a shot, there's always micro adjustments - literally 5-10 seconds long, but other than that its balanced pretty well with the settings.
