Best Site To Buy The 7D

Hello All,

This is my first post on dvxuser. I'm about to purchase the Canon 7D and wanted to ask a few questions before I do. Normally when I buy online, I'll stick to trusted sites like Amazon or Newegg even if it means I spend a little bit more. However, with an expensive item like the 7D, the price differences can be pretty substantial. A site called Central Digital offers the camera for about $300-$500 cheaper than most and a site called Ryther Camera is having a two day sale this weekend and offering the camera for a very similar price. So my questions are: Is this price too good to be true? Has anyone else on here ordered from either of these sites? If so, what was your experience? How was the service? Was the item satisfactory? Please let me know. The price is very tempting, but I'd obviously rather pay more than be scammed out of my money.

Hi there,
I personally haven't heard or used the sites you have mentioned but my advice is be very CAREFUL. Being subject to internet fraud myself I am very cautious of certain websites. Make sure that they update regularly and try to get in contact with people who have left reviews if there are any.
I use B&H Photo for all of my equipment and absolutely love them. They are fast, reliable and very easy to deal with. You may pay more for your stuff but I say paying a little more for a trustworthy site is worth it in the long run.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Google is you friend. I ALWAYS research every store before I purchased. I'd probably avoid both those companies myself after this search

These types of companies like to do bait and switch type tactics or try and get you to buy tons of crap you don't need. I'd say, I've heard of people getting good deals from places like these, but the headache just doesn't seem worth it. It seems I found some decent reviews on the second store, but I am still hesitant to order from them.

I shop mostly from B&H or when someone passes along a company they've used for many years they are happy with.

Thank You

Thank You

Thank you both for getting back to me. Your comments are very helpful. I think I will avoid both these sites. Being a NY native I have been in B&H numerous times and I agree, they really put your mind at ease with the smooth operation they got going there. Thanks again.

www.resellerratings.com is your friend. Basically, anyone selling drastically less than Amazon or B&H is a scam -- they will only sell the product to you after you buy a bunch of add-ons, or things already included with the camera such as battery and charger. I'd beware of any selling for more than 5% less than B&H/Amazon.
